I just ran across a thread about used/unused ports on routers that brings clarity to something that has been bothering me since the failed debut in cyberspace of the ACA.

In an age when just about every retailer has an internet presence that can ship anything to you and charge you a dozen different ways, how is it that the government (Read Obama) couldn't find a company smart enough make the ACA page run???? I thought of Trojans planted on folks computers - virus infestation targeting the ACA webpage - and thought that was too chancy. Hardly anyone runs on the internet anymore without some kind of security software - what are the chances that hundreds of thousands of people happened to pick up a Trojan or virus all at once? If there was a common denominator for access to folks computers what would it be? The thread about router ports opened the door to the validity of my unvoiced suspicions.

Who has access to millions of unsuspecting household's computers? Comcast for one. Comcast is a known strong GOP supporter contributing mucho dollars to the GOP cause. It is a gem of an opportunity to savage the ACA with planted computer failures just when the media was ripe to here the Aha! I told you so coming from the Right.

Comcast has untrammeled access to every customer's computer. They know what you watch - they control what you watch to the level of three TV's on a single cable having access or denial of certain channels. Pay more and you get more on any one computer in a household, attached to the same cable. And. . . . .that same cable comes in to modems and attaches directly to your computer or in most instances, a router. They can do anything they want with the available ports on that router and your anti-virus, anti-Trojan software would not have a clue. Your access to an internet address for ACA can be blocked, redirected or simply screwed with and you, the GOP, and the prepped media will howl OBAMA is at fault.

While we are busy slamming the NSA - - - we are being slammed by civil activists. Worried about your secrets - don't facebook, tweet, or any other thing on the internet - not even buying something from Newegg. And for heavens sake, don't jump on "FREE" tax filing, or any other service that requires any of your personal information.

Windows mail just popped up a window advising me of mail from Comcast. This happens every time I turn on my computer. 99% of the time there is no mail message.

I don't have a shrink for those supporters who will immediately call me a conspiracy nut. I don't need one (honestly).

Did they make sure to get lots of bids and hire the lowest bidder in order to be good stewards of the taxpayer dollars?

How a low bidder makes MO'MONEY, fuck up the project just enough that it is too expensive to fire you and hire some else but cheap enough to pay the low bidder to fix their ?mistake?, that is called a "COST OVER RUN".

I googled and found this: https://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/summary.php?id=D000000461

It looks like they actually give more money to the Democrat Party.

Shrug, I don't see where Comcast has a dog in that fight anyway.

So the GOP in cahoots with Comcast broke the ACA website and are infesting everyone's computers at once?

You all missed the point. Do you think it would be easy to find a link between a heavy hitter like Comcast and the far right? All the lobbyist support the business model. - - So they can continue to get exclusive right to operate in a town or city or county.

The disinformation strategy of the far right has most people fooled. They propose, in the House, outrageous bills that they know will not pass muster on the Democratic side and news media celebrates a hoopla about it while in republican controlled states the real damage is done. Is it 26 states now that have almost justified murdering someone who you feel is a threat? How many states now have liberal concealed carry laws? Why, if you think about it, is there so much stress on second amendment rights? In many small towns the police are outnumbered by armed citizens - many of whom have assault type weapons because it is their second amendment right. People are being trained in hand gun combat tactics in many places in this US of A. Wait until the other shoe drops.
