I developed a chest cold back in late February that never went away and eventually turned into Pneumonia. I finally made it to the Doc this past Tuesday. She put me on Amoxicilin (antibiotic) and Methylprednisolone (steroid). I've taken the antibiotic before but I've never taken a steroid.
The steroid has turned me into an eating machine. I'm eating everything in site. My metabolism seems to be in afterburner mode. I had a small cut on my leg from doing some yard work that I got on Monday - it's 95% healed. I haven't healed like that since I was a teenager. Since I have been taking the steroid I only sleep maybe three hours a night. Then I'm awake and can't go back to sleep if I want to. I freaking rearranged all the furniture in my house yesterday, every single room, inside maybe two hours.
I understand now why athletes take steroids; I feel like superman - but the long term health effects just aren't worth it. I feel like I could do a 5k run right now, even though my lungs are still recovering. Anyway, my supply runs out in I think three more days. I hope there is no "crash" associated with this medication. I suppose I'll just be plain old me again, without my super powers.
