stock cooling for the 2100+

My friend just bought a retail amd 2100+ and he says that that stock heatsink/fan isn't cutting it at all. He does not overclock. Is the stock cooling not going to do the job? I don't understand why they would include a h/f that couldn't cool the processor properly. I don't know the temps he's getting. Any feedback?

when i had the retail hsf, it worked fine. temps were around 40c-45c

the stock fan should work fine (maybe a little warm, but still well below the danger zone)

I have a 2100 and I can say it's like a little space heater. The stock cooling would probably save it from ever frying, but if I were you, I'd spend 30 bucks on a decent HSF unit.

It also depends on where your PC is. Mine's in a small, stuffy room w/o air conditioning during the summer and 4 feet away from a radiator in the winter.

I recently installed a cheap new pure CU hsf from evercool, and it realy works well, for the price. The fan speed is also temp controlled.

Well, first of all, make sure the fan is working... It's probably just that the case is too hot. The retail fan should be fine for not ocing. Make sure his case isn't storing heat. Check the number of fans and where they're placed.

running a 2100+ at 2GHz with the stock HSF and it is fine [little warm for the devotees here at 54C ] but no problem. i am looking to change it more for the whiney noise!
