I have had an AMD 5600+ X2 in my computer for almost a year now in an Asrock motherboard. It runs great and I have no problems. I think it is a Windsor core.
I recently picked up another 5600+ with an ECS motherboard in a combo deal. I benchtested that setup and it works fine. But is shows it is a Dublin core that runs at 2.9 Ghz instead of 2.8 like my Windsor.
I decided to try the 2nd one in my Asrock board since it is a tiny bit faster. I plugged it in and I could only get to the post screen where it detected the drives. It would boot no further. I then put the Windsor back in and it boots fine.
I tried the new one a couple of times thinking I just needed to reseat it but it still won't get past the same post screen.
I have the Windsor back in and it is back to normal. Anyone have an idea why the new one is not working with the Asrock board but will work fine with the ECS board?
Thanks
Smitty
