bl4ckfl4g stated that he had one, but wasn't using it. There have been a lot of complaints about the PS3 fightpad with the wireless connection issues and flaky diagonal control with the d-pad. 360 owners don't have to worry about the wireless connection issues, but the d-pad might still be suspect.

Using the d-pad, and having a pretty good go at it. Somebody over at Shoryuken was talking smack about wanting to see people try to do Viper's ultra with the 360 d-pad. I went into training mode and pulled it off numerous times with no problems (it's the same as Ryu and Sakura's ultra that I know of).

Personally, I think charge moves are hard with the d-pad, but that's about it. The only ultra I had trouble pulling off was Chun Li's, but when I finally got it, it was well worth it. Seems like I took half the guy's health bar, and she still finished with about 5 or 6 more hits after the KO.

I went to Gamestop today and picked up myself and a buddy of mine a copy of the game. They said they received 20 ea and 15 were on reserve. So three were left in the store.

Nice to know the D-pad isn't worthless. I think I might just start the game using the D-pad right away to try to adjust to it

I usually hate the joystick in fighting games but I am liking it much more then the d-pad on the 360. I will probably get a fightpad when I can find one until the the joystick is working good enough.

I was trying to hold out for a sale but all this talk wore me down. I just came back from Target with the game and the strategy guide. I'm installing on my PS3 as I type. For those who bought the strategy guide, how is it? I know the internet probably has better guide but I'm a visual person and like the graphic to go with words and like the old school paper book I can read while sitting on the toilet. Is it semi-decent? Last strategy guide I bought for a game was the SFA2 Vs guide, and I thought that one was excellent.

i tihnk it's great, granted i haven't looked it at that much.

however i arledady found an error in it after looking at like the 3rd persons moves and just glancing over them. chun li's move wehre she spins up (after like 2 other medium kick moves in a combo) is backwards. it says you press up, down + mk, but it's actually down, up + mk.

im sure there are going to be more that i find too.

Can you post in the 1st or 2nd post how to unlock Akuma/Gouken/Seth? Just so it's there so we can point people there?

I'm not sure if this is the bare minimum to unlock Akuma/Gouken, but this is what I did:

Settings: "easiest" difficulty, 1-round matches.
1) Unlock everybody except Akuma/Gouken/Seth.
2) Beat the game getting 2 perfects and 2 ultra finishes (perfects are easiest done in the early matches) and not losing once.
3) Beat Akuma to unlock Akuma.
4) Beat game with Akuma.
5) Beat game with character you have already beaten the game with before, this time with 2 perfects, 3 ultra finishes, and not losing once.
6) Beat Gouken to unlock Gouken.
7) Beat the game with all characters except Seth to unlock Seth.

I beat both Akuma and Gouken with Ryu. I also beat the game with Ryu to unlock Sakura. I don't know if this matters but I believe you have to only beat the game twice with one character to unlock Gouken (and not three times like I did).

Also, getting perfects isn't that hard. If you have a fireball character, just spam fireballs from across the screen and usually the computer will just eat it, especially the early rounds. Just be careful with spacing.

Okay I haven't done #7 yet but I believe that's how you unlock Seth.

I played with Viper a little bit earlier tonight, and kudos to anyone who can use her effectively. I love that some of her special moves require you to actually think about using a L, M, or H punch/kick with them. There's no way I would be able to use her effectively, though. I'm not that quick with the thinking.

I just unlocked Cammy, Dan, and Gen earlier tonight, so I may use them a bit. I've read that Dan is the weakest in the game, it kinda makes me want to see if he's somewhat decent to use, just because I know nobody else will be using him.

dan is like taking all of the bad things about the shoto characters and putting all those bad things into 1 character, then giving him a pink outfit.

Just finished unlocking the 6 regular characters, and at this point, I have no interest in trying to get Akuma, Gouken, or Seth. Even on the easiest setting, Seth is a little bitch, and it pisses me off. I didn't think I'd ever get through the single player with Abel. I was kinda pissed that I was having to use him, and then Chun Li started beating the shit out of me, so I was even more defiant to give in to the developers and learn any of his moves. I finally made it through.

I did find it easiest to use Bison to get to the end with no losses, and his ultra shouldn't be too hard to do at some point to get Akuma. I'm sure I'll attempt to get Akuma at some point, but Gouken and Seth are probably out of my skill range, and I'll drive myself mad trying to get them. I hate Seth so much that I don't even want to see him on my character select screen....lol.

i'm a huge SF2 fan and was a bit hesitant to pick this up. buy.com had it for 53 shipped so i jumped on it. is it as good as you guys had expected?

Seth is a cheap ass Marvel Super Heroes reject...ugh.. somehow Capcom made a worse, out of place boss than that panty wearing Gil. In any case the game is just excellent all around. I found the Abel and Sagat cpu to be pains sometimes.

Online players seem to be using nothing but those shoto characters. My bro just picks Zangief and murders them all. It was pretty funny too. I'm awful at the game though especially with the lousy 360 pad. I can't find those madcatz pads anywhere.
