It's actually better than I expected, but I'm not the prototypical huge SF fan. I am a regular fan, though, and I'm having a ton of fun with it (other than the aforementioned Seth bullshit that you have to wade through to unlock players).

So do you get more BP in ranked matches if you beat someone who has more BP than you? I was sitting at 66 BP after two matches (1-1) last night. Played a couple of quick matches tonight before I head off to bed, and lost the first to someone who had around 500 BP, and lost 26 BP. Played the next guy and beat him very, very handily with Sakura (he had Ken), and I gained over 100 BP. His BP was around 1100 or so. So is there some kind of known math as to how much you gain and lose?

Ok, WTF? The PS3 version dumps out a 720p resolution. I knew there was something jacked up. I then look at my TV and it shows a 720p resolution. WTF? :|

Ok, this is getting frustrating. I've unlocked everyone except for Akuma, Gouken, and Seth. So I chug on with Ryu and continue to perfect my first two matches and ultra my 3 and 4. Akuma does not appear after this, eventhough many people have gotten him after these performances. I finish beating Seth with a perfect (4 perfects and 4 ultras altogether) and Gouken pops up. This is the second time I've seen him pop up when trying to unlock Akuma. Does anyone have any tips or ideas?

Edit: Just read that you need to beat the game with every unlockable character before doing this... so never mind!

By ultras do you mean ultra finishes? Are you playing 1-round matches?

Yes, ultra finishes and 1-round matches. I know what I need to do. I haven't beaten the game with the six unlockable characters. However, it seems like it's super easy to unlock everyone, it just takes time.

Edit: Never mind, I just unlocked Akuma by perfecting 3 matches (no ultras). I guess what I did before was overkill and drew out Gouken, instead of Akuma. At least I know what to do to unlock Gouken now.

The pad is killing me...and I tried looking for matches earlier and it said there weren't any available...I think something's wonky with my PSN connection. Maybe tomorrow we can set up a time to play, that kind of fell through today.

Also, bl4ckfl4g,
Could you copy Imported's 02/18/2009 07:21 AM post into one of the two first posts? The one about unlocking colors.

It'd be nice to have all the unlockable information in one easy to find place. Thanks you rock.

Finally got to play this a bit (at 1 am) and am quickly realizing I'm awful... really really awful. Even with Ryu and such I can't time things consistently enough to be good. Part of it may be the 360 pad but I know most of it is my own damn fault. And fuck knows how people can make any use out of the charge characters.

I don't think that list is quite complete yet.

purbeast, I was looking through your gained achievements in this game, and I saw you had beat the story mode on the hardest difficulty, something which I think is impossible. Who did you use and did it take you a while with continues? Obviously you are fucking good at this game, we need to play a few rounds soon so I can see if I can get a hit on you .

EDIT: I also saw an achievement for fighting 10 fight request matches, so I may have to turn that on for a bit just to get that. Consider this a heads-up to anybody else who wants the achievement but has that turned off.

It's not like you can just go out and get one right now. They're backordered and sold out everywhere and will remain that way for a solid 3 months. They're pricey too so unless you know you want one it'll be wasted money.

I noticed yesterday that my Mcfarlane Halo control's d-pad is better than the original white control's d-pad. Anyone else notice this?
I'm getting pretty good with my d-pad, although I'm still waiting for Amazon to ship my Madcatz fighting control.

i beat it with akuma, and actually i only continued once, at Seth, and i was pissed because i had him down to like 20% health and he was on his back, and I did akuma's ultra move to time it RIGHT as Seth gets up, and he magically did his Ultra when i was .00000001 mm away from him and he ended up killing me with it lol.

i was basically just using some zoning tactics and somewhat 'exploit of the AI' to beat the game pretty easily on hardest. what i mean by exploiting, is that it seems all the characters that can shoot fireballs will get into a fireball match with you if you guys are far apart and i toss a fireball. however akuma has the 'fiery' fireball which hits 3 times. so when i would get into a fireball fight w/the AI, my 'fiery' fireball would go through their fireball, but then still connect with 2 or so hits. then as soon as they would get up, i'd toss another one, and it would happen again.

i could do this enough w/some other tactics to beat it pretty easily on hardest.

the 2 tough achievements are going to be beating it with everyone on medium and facing gouken on hardest. some of the challenges are really hard to.

it's going to take a lot of time and skill to 1000/1000 this game.

and thanks for the heads up about the fight request, i really had no clue what that achievement even meant till i read your post!

I'm sucking bad too and I haven't even tried to go online yet (why bother?). So far I'm best with Sakura and C. Viper but I'm going to be practicing for a long time. Well either that or give up the game. :frown:

I used the same type of zoning tactics when beating the game with Bison to unlock one of the characters. I simply kept charging back, and would use the psycho crusher and double knee press when they'd get up. On Easiest, they never blocked, which made it extremely easy to get through. Plus if I simply used HK/HP, the moves would hit them from across the screen, so it didn't matter where I was standing.

I'm learning to hate playing the computer, because the AI is ridiculously tough, even on the easier levels. You might want to hop into some human matches, I actually find it quite refreshing. At least if you get beat, you know it wasn't some cheap AI.

I dont get this post. Who cares if it's 720P or 1080P? What is your point? Does the game not look good to you? We dont know because you didnt even comment on the visuals at all? Who give a crap what resolution the game is running at!

I have the PS3 version and I honestly didnt know what resolution the game was running at (still havent verified this actually but I'll take your word for it) but I think it looks great.

I have a character specific question: I tried doing Rufus's Messiah kick ending high (flip kick), which should juggle into his ultra as you see everywhere in youtube tournament videos...thing is, I can't get it to execute quickly enough. I don't know if it's my sucky ability on the pad or what. I'm pretty sure I don't see players FADC-ing to get it to work, so I don't know what's up. I don't know if I'll be able to play Rufus, but I want to learn everyone a little.

I think FADC is to feint your opponent into thinking one way, but you jumping in and starting a combo, possibly ending in an ultra. From what I read, it's recommended that you do most all characters ultras within combos, and the FADC is supposedly a great way to start a combo.

If I'm wrong on any of the above, then someone please correct me.

As far as kara cancels, you have like 3/60 of a second to pull it off. The only way you're pulling that stuff off is if you practice, practice, practice. I'm not anywhere near even good enough to know when a longer range is needed for a throw/grab, so I'm not even worried about trying kara cancels .

Hit confirming into ultra seems like the major use of the FADC. At least I haven't been able to read about/figure out other uses.

Does anyone know how the battle point system works? The reason I ask is because every time I beat somebody I get 20-25 points, yet when I lose I lose 100+ points. The points I lose are given to my opponent
