I guess nobody else has love for the shamWow. It's a really good ultra. It has insane priority and good range, and it takes off lots of life. It can be used as an anti-air. IT has priority over fireballs. Make one mistake against a good Rose and you get shamWowed and die.

It's known as the shamWOW on SRK because Rose's ribbon/rag resembles the commercial cleaning product. The product itself has become something of an internet meme because of the spokesman/demonstrator's enthusiasm for it.

I suppose you have to appreciate Rose's ultra before you can appreciate the video.

No, it's just stupid. I love Rose's ultra and I know what shamwows are. Just because she has a scarf doesn't mean it looks like a shamwow, so saying they look alike is retarded. Looping a vid of the same ultra over and over again on every character of the game is NOT entertaining any way you slice it.

I just finished about 2 hour session and only managed to increase my battle points about 200 points to 22xx. I feel like I hit a wall far as my skill with Zief. My old man hand and fingers are having hard time keeping up with some of the more difficult combos. Anyone else feel the same?

you want to run some player matches?

gief is one of the people my balrog has some issues against and i would like to practice it, and you seem to be a good gief player

but yea today i went from 2100 to like 2350 or so, and it takes a while since you only get like 14, 20, 30 BP per win if they are lower than you.

Sure, but I'm done for the night. Wife has my late dinner ready, and I plan on watching some TV and then hit the sack. I'm streetfightered out tonight. I'll add you next time I'm on and hopefully we can get some practice in. I usually play after 9-10pm Eastern on weekdays couple times a week. "latexpaint" is my PSN username.

Balrog vs. Gief IMO is one of the easiest matchups for Rog. Gief's standing strong gets beat out by Balrog's standing roundhouse, and even if it trades you come out ahead in damage. You can sweep his lariats or if you are jumping in you can jump Fierce and it beats it clean. So watch out for random laraits and sweep them, on his wakeup you stand right next to him and right when he gets up jump back fierce. There isn't anything Gief can do to beat you in that situation.

Also, try and get Gief's back to the corner this is the most advantageous for Balrgo against any character. Sit back and poke with stand roundhouse and sweeps and it is incredibly hard to Gief to get out.

Roundhouse with Balrog? Are you talking the japanese Balrog or using roundhouse in a way I'm not familiar... I know it as a type of kick.

Who is your main Purbest0? I am trying to stop playing as shotos (Ken is what I grew up with back in SNES days with original SFII) because they are boring and so many people use them now. I tried Viper but she gets pounded easily and a lot of skills are needed to play her. I guess I need to experiment some more with the characters.

I'm going by the original arcade terms for the strengths of the moves (US arcades).

So LP MP HP turns into this: Jab Strong Fierce
LK MK HK: Short Forward Roundhouse

I seem to have hit a mental brick wall at 4200bp. It seems everyone I'm fighting is using the most basic tactics and can't even combo into ultra, but I'm still eating shoryu's and getting baited into spamming wake up shoryus myself. Ugh i need a break from this game.

well my main initially was Ken then Akuma, but I've moved over to Balrog now. If I had to play just 1 match, I would probably pick Balrog now.

now when i play as ken or akuma i feel i don't play as well as i used to with them, but i haven't had much practice with them recently.

So, I've decided that Seth on the hard difficulty is just there to troll players. He is unbeatable. I spent 2 hours losing to him until I gave up. I was using my best character (Fei Long) and couldn't defeat him. He could disrupt my combos with special moves and would spam teleport until he grabbed me. =( I hate that guy... I am going to run through the game with every character and try to play like Seth does. I think it will be impossible due to the speed at which he can accomplish moves. But if I can... >_<

heh i almost beat the game on the hardest difficulty w/out continuing, but i lost once to seth and beat him on the next time.

he plays very cheap, cheaper than a human can play. you just have to be cheap back to him. he's very easy to defeat with a shoto by exploiting the way he fights. just stay back and throw fireballs, and when he does his wal jump, dragonpunch him.

I used to be a Ken guy, but now I find myself using Ryu and Sagat more. I don't like how Ken's Shoryuken has to hit multiple times to get max damage, and his Ultra has a super short range. In previous games, his current Super combo was his Ultra, and had decent range.

Ryu is just all around-solid Ryu. Nothing too exciting. His ultra looks kind of lame (no dramatic punches, kicks or slams like others), but it works.

Sagat's Tiger Knee is amazing. It has great range and priority over so many moves. His Ultra/Super are also crazy good as well.

I would like to use more characters, but I don't really enjoy charge moves or lots of weird combination of button presses such as Akuma.

El Fuerte is the most worthless character ever. I hate all of the new characters, but he is the worst.

Edit: Wahoo! First post on page 100!

Use gief and just repeatedly greenhand into SPD. As far as I know the only way the computer can beat that is by doing a wake up ultra. That's about the cheapest thing you can do to the CPU lol

It is strange because I destroyed him with Sakura last night. Oh well, guess I am better against him with Sakura than a character I can beat players with.

El Fuerte is pretty entertaining I think. If you can time his body slams and stuff properly he can be effective.

Also everybody's formatting on these forums is different. You're near the bottom of page 50 for me.

The only characters that can beat me on a regular basis are Fei Long and El Fuerte. He is pretty good if you know how to use him. He plays extremely goofy though. As for Akuma's combinations, his ultra is the same as Sakura's was in the EX series so I know it already.

I just wish Akuma's ultra didn't suck so much in this game - so hard to land.

It does so much damage it couldn't be too easy to land or he'd be a powerhouse.

Ahh...I believe you're right. I forgot that I had my setup to display 10 posts per page!

I imagine anybody could be good with anybody given enough practice. I think if I saw an El Fuerte player online, I'd probably lose more out of a "WTF!" factor and being all crazy kinds of confused!

yea that is the one bad thing about him is that it is nearly impossible to land his ultra on anyone who's decent.

As easy as it is to avoid, I did have a moment where I totally botched what should have been the easiest dodge ever. Some horrible Akuma player was on the opposite side of the screen and had failed the input at least 2 times prior to getting it right.. I was just sitting there watching him jab jab short over and over again.. Then on the 3rd try, he finally got it right but I was ready.. Or so I thought. Somehow, I tried to do a fireball, but backwards (?!).. I dunno, but qcb + punch with sakura doesn't do a damn thing but stick her arm out far enough for akuma to grab it

All I had to do was jump.. Shit, i think I could've just stood there and it would've been too far without me reaching TOWARDS him.
