we all have our days. I just went from 4300bp to 3200bp . I usually play pretty horrible after coming back from the gym. Muscle soreness seems to kill my hand eye coordination.

It seems I'm running into more disconnect quitters. Most are hard fought matches where I catch them in an Ultra 360 to end the fight, and they disconnect during the long Ultra animation. I know most of these players had pretty decent BP, probably more than me as they had good games and used advanced techniques. Pretty frustrating.

i am slowly gaining skills. I am using Ryu exclusively right now to ease me into the game. maybe i will change when i get bored of him but he's just pretty easy. It also seem to me that Cammy is a very popular choice, there are a few picked her after saw me pick Ryu. is there some sort of anti ryu thing going on with cammy?

I played 2 ranked matches earlier and lost them all.. I should stop playing people with bad connection

So I got my BP up this weekend after stopping playing quick matches in ranked, where I would win lnike 15 in a row and get only like 100Bp total then I would lose 1 and lose like 120Bp lol.

the custom searching seems to be working pretty well now and I base it on more/same skilled than me and find some matches where I will win/lose like 60-80 per match. when sf4 first came out it wasn't working too well for me and also it takes so long to search compared to quick matches.

well i got up to like 3300bp from 2500 and am going to try and continue to go up!

i did notice too, when playing both PS3 and Xbox360 a bit over the weekend, that there seems to be a lot more quitters on PS3 than Xbox360.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to try custom matches. I've been playing quick matches only and like you said, I would win like 10 matches in a row and gain like 1 to 20 points per match while losing like 100 points if I had a bad game. I'm up to 2700bp and it was a chore to get there. I must have played like 40+ matches to gain like 400 points.

lol yea dude, it took me like 20-30 matches to get from 2500 to 2700, then probably like 15 or 20 to get up to 3300 heh.

sweet. I gained over 130bp in 2 quick matches using the custom match mode. That's like 10-15 match wins using quick match mode fighting endless ryu/ken/sagat/akuma drones. The two I fought was Abel and Cammy. I've a feeling I'm going to be facing variety of characters using this mode. thx for the tip. I feel like 3,000 is within reach now.

make sure you select avoid player if they disconnect on you (XBL)

When I first got the game on launch date, I shot up to 900bp with no problems. Whooping on everyone. I quit playing for a few weeks, and cannot buy a friggin ranked win. Everytime I'm about to win, I get a disconnect. At least I don't loose points on that though. Down to 450 now. Player matches are still fun though. Mostly new people on that, and I end up helping them advance their technique while they help me as well. Game is still fun as hell, and well worth the 60.00 I paid.

That still doesn't solve the problem that it seems the majority of idiots playing ranked matches will disconnect on you if they are losing, thus robbing you of your win and BP, while preserving their precious BP. Yet, you are a honest person and actually take the loss, thus resulting in you losing BP, since you can never get ahead since all the morons disconnect.

There's still plenty of valid connection issues, and those shouldn't be punished. That's the problem they faced/are facing. If you punish disconnects, you'll piss off people when they get punished for true connection issues. If you leave it, we stay pissed when people quit with no penalty.

i have no issue with boths being a penalty. . if your connection is unstable then deal with the negative.

yea i'd say that 99% of the disconnects on ranked games are due to people quitting, especially when they always happen as soon as the other person starts to get their ass handed to tem.

of course, 75% of all stats are made up.

I've never had a game DC while I wasn't in the lead. EVER. Over 1000 games played on ranked. Once you hit the higher brackets, it becomes really pathetic.

I fought a guy with a modest 4700bp four times in one night. He beat me three times and took about 200bp total, and the last game I finally learn his pattern and dominate him in both rounds straight. He DC's right after I block his desperate ultra attempt.

i thought PS3 uses wireless connection? in order to DC they will have to unplug the router... seems too much work for me =(

whats the easiest way to get the ultra bar full? i am trying to unlock gouken but i struggle to get the 3x ultra finish. i keep dying cause i have to lose all my health first. grrr.

i just read u can do ultras with the bar half full? i thought the entire thing needed to be full.

lol. ill have to go try that now.

The ultra has two levels: max and half full. The only difference is the max does more damage

OK I finally was able to win some matches by using zagat. Damn that guy is cheap. his combos are so easy to pull and the tiger knee is just devastating.

I've only had one disconnect in about 175 matches, after I beat him in the first rd he went idle and dropped. I very rarely totally dominate somebody, and my bp is <1k which may be the reason I'm not seeing it much. Though it hasn't been a problem for me I agree it should be punished. I wonder if there are issues with determining which person dropped out in a 2 player game. Hopefully they figure out a way to do it and patch it in.

No unplugging is necessary. If you're on xbox, just hit the xbox button and either sign out or hit Y to go to dashboard. I'd imagine there's something similar with the PS3 Home button. I always refer to it as a DC but the more popular term is "rage-quitting"
