OMG, I just can't play this game anymore. It just doesn't click with me. I don't value managing space and defending enough to enjoy this game. RUSH! RUSH! RUSH! It's what I do and it has just cost me 2K in BP today - I am now down to 1900 BP from 3984. I actually sat down and tried to play SF4 with patience but I just can not fucking do it after playing 3S, MvC2, T5R, and Guilty Gear. I had outs with those games in the form of airblocks, air dashes, assists, counters and parries. The SA/Focus attack in SF4 just doesn't cut it for me, I can't be aggressive enough with it like I could with parrying in 3S. I've just lost patience and can't wait for opponents to come to me, I need to parry, [kara-]choke, fierce, to Abare Tosanami, to Fukiage, dash, Fukiage, or Doom Beta assist, Strider Orb, teleport, CHIP CHIP CHIP, all offense! I can't just sit back and wait

This is frustrating because I love 2D fighters and I'm pretty sure SF4 is a good 2D fighter but I'm just not feeling it.

dude you don't HAVE to use focus attacks ...

i RARELY use them, if at all.

i rush a lot in this game also, pretty much every match i win i have A for offense cause i'm constantly rushing

and man this game on ps3 is a chore. i've been 'playing' it for 20 minutes and have found 2 friggin matches in ranked. what a PITA.

sorry dude, I get ranked matches pretty much constantly playing arcade mode with request on. I suppose if you've got a much higher BP, setting to "more skilled" (which is the only setting that matters) gets you a smaller and smaller base of opponents to fight.. More skilled than me seems to be pretty much everyone

Speaking of people more skilled than me... ggs Crono! I WANT to crank up the aggression on you, but finding an opening against you just wasn't working out.

I am not that high skill wise, i'm only at 3k BP on ps3. but it has taken FOREVER to get here because of how little I find matches. Usually if I do create rooms and people join, they will be like 1K BP lower than me, so if I win i hardly get anything, but if I lose I lose like 100+ pts.

i did have some good player matches last night on ps3 though.

He jumped in the air to parry the last hit so he could get the extra damage from the jump in.

First guy I fought had 1 bar and 1% disconnect ratio already. I figure he's connected via 2 cans and a string or something. Laggiest fight ever. I gave up in the 2nd round and just let him win, but I still got 1gp. Second guy was also one bar. I just turned my ps3 off at the character select screen. I wonder if that counts against me.

So far, I'm not enthused with the championship mode, but I think it's just matching me with non local people since it just came out. I'm used to fighting other people from socal with really strong connections. Maybe later in the day once people from socal are awake/not at work I'll see better connections..

I like championship mode enough, but it doesn't seem to be all that different from other modes though. It just has a 'grade' associated with it, now includes disconnect%, and hides the character selection which it should have done in the first place.

So, do the changes such as disconnect ratio and hiding character selection apply to all online modes, or just the new "tournament" mode introduced in the patch?

It is sad. I play so much. I have over 500 ranked wins but only like 1200 bp. I can't even compete against Purbeast. After May 15 I should have more time to practice. Right now I just play matches because I don't have time to sit and practice my combos and execution.

i really only have 1 main, which is Balrog, but I am decent w/a few other characters which I also use when I am in player matches with people/friends, i like to change it up and stuff.

im hoping by next week i will have my new joystick built as well, i'm very anxious to try out the japanese parts which i've never once used.
