I won my first G-2 last night. I think I've played like 5 so not too bad I guess. I think it was worth like 35,000cp but only a little over 100 GP.

Is G-1 like 5k or 10k gp? It's like an MMO grind only fun.

G1 is 15k i believe.

I know G2-D is 3K, G2-C is 5k, not sure where G2-B is, but I've faced some G2-A's and they had over 10K.

Looking good! I took the easy way out. I have a HRAP3 for my PS3 and an official SF4 TE stick for my xbox 360. WOOT!

i wish hawaii didnt suck so badly for internets. i played like 30+ games, lost every one. never got anymore than 3 yellow bars. most of the time it was 1 red or the flashy network symbol. couldnt even beat lame zangiefs that just lariat all day, was impossible to time anything.

Mm, no. Not right now anyway. I'll just get too angry losing to you over and over. I'm in a fragile state right now (for reasons other than SF4), and getting owned by boxer will just infuriate me. I really cannot stand him in this game. I just really feel he's so... simple. So many armor breaking moves. So many moves with armor. He can combo into his ultra REALLY easily without cost of ex EVER. Having all of that just seems so unnecessary. Like he wouldn't really be worse if they were more picky with giving him armor breaking moves/moves with armor, but he'd be less mindless. And those stupid 2-frame jabs. I just don't like the dominance of jabs in this game and his 2-frame jabs are the biggest example of that.

I need to be able to beat up the stupid scrub boxers first before I would event want to play you. I don't even know if that will happen right now.

I don't know. I hate losing. Especially in this game, moreso than say, HD Remix or GGPO ST. I'm trying to decide if it's because I just ended up not liking the game (as much as I did originally) or if it's because I feel like I'm losing to bad players. If it's the latter (and I suspect it is), then it's just something I need to get better at. There are lots of things I like about the game, so I continue to play it, even though it's been frustrating for me a lot lately.

you can do ryu's ultra too juggling very easy as well.

thing about balrog, is that he lacks one crucial move - a crossup. that makes his jump in game virtually useless on wakeup.

and he has 3 armor breaking moves, and they are all telegraphed and require a charge, so ti's not like you can just do one on the move when you see someone focus attack.

and against a good player, no he cannot combo into his ultra "easily". if you see balrog with his ultra, simply don't put yourself in a position to get headbutted. and the damage scaling of the ultra when juggling is a lot. but yea, it's some free hits heh.

if you really want some tips against balrog, give me some situations giving you trouble and i will try to help you.

haha my favorite thing to do against balrog is Sakura's standing fierce. Shuts any of his unarmored dash punches right the fuck down. Too bad I get too carried away and try it on the armored ones as well LOL. Its either that, neutral jump HK or FA. The three all work best on different dashes. I'm just not 100% sure which one to use for which at this point, and I can't yet tell them apart from far enough away. Playing a balrog who's kind(read: foolish) enough to throw them from across the screen is great practice, but the more skilled balrog wont give me that luxury.

It's a tough match up, and even though I feel like I've got a few ideas on how to play it, I still lose more often than I win it.

edit: FINALLY. made it to G2E today.
Reaaally looking forward to losing a lot. I guess I'd better hurry before all the really godlike players make it to G1.

After 500 matches, I'm still unfamiliar with stupid shit, like how to punish retards who do the same crap over and over. I just don't get how to play this game. I end up turtling like a retard. I'm a retard.

I'm rather frustrated.

Did I mention how much I hate Balrog? Fuck him and his IQ of 5. His stupid 2 frame jabs. His armor on what seems like EVERY special move. And his stupid facial expressions. And his stupid headbutt. Both of them.

I believe it's for both systems, it was in the weekly BB ad, so it's likely a sale and not a universal price drop, but I don't know for sure.

Well, finally got back to playing this a bit and decided to hit up the online ranked matches... tons of lag on PSN + hard to find matches... blah. Anyway, went 3-1 with Ryu, took a loss to Gief in a close matchup, but ended up losing on lag so bad that I was pressing up on the pad for about 2 whole seconds, and I never jumped - ended up just eating a pile driver to lose. Tons more fun playing live matches though

So I finally finished my Sanwa stick...

It's going to take some getting used to. I can't believe how sensitive the buttons are. I am still accidently putting out some moves. Like, if you've never used Sanwa before (which i hadn't till this joystick), you can literally drag your finger just on the top of the button and it'll make the button input. They are so super sensitive!

However on that note, I have noticed I'm able to link moves together somewhat easier.

The joystick itself, I still am not sure about it. It just feels so different than what I'm used to with Happ. I had the square gate in for a while, as I use Balrog mainly, but I then put the octogan one in and like that better for sure. The joystick definitely feels looser than I'm used to, and I may get the optional spring you can get for the sanwa sticks but I am not sure yet, I still want to give it more time.

After like 25 matches last night though, I think I still need some practice with it.

I would definitely suggest seimitsu parts instead of sanwa's. The stick is a lot more stiff (though you can take out the spring in the sanwa to tighten it) and the buttons aren't super sensitive.

Someone's gotta tell me how to beat a Zangief Lariat spammer... When playing online as Honda, I find myself often getting stuck in a situation where Zangief comes in close with his Lariat, I'm blocking then he'll grab and throw me. I dont appear to be good enough to tech the throw. I get people that will also walk up close, and when I'm on the ground jump to the other side and Lariat again, then repeat. It seems like not many of Honda's moves have priority over it... jabs certainly don't.
