Ok, so who's going to throw down on February 21st?! I'll be there and plan to move onto the final round in CA.

If you think you're bad, let's see what you got. There can only be ONE SF IV Champion!

no point paying 200 for that

i just bought the HRAP3 for 89 from amazon
and 6 sanwa buttons + octagonal plate for 29 shipped. i wish they had a circular plate.

so for 118, you are getting the tournament stick that's sold out everywhere for 20 less than the shopcapcom deal, but you don't have the cool graphics

Where do you buy Sanway/Seimetsu buttons from? What are the plates for? Is it for decoration or does it determine where the joystick can move (ie 360 circle or locked into specific directions/grooves)? Sorry for the beginner questions.

lizardlick, they shipped pretty quick also, i paid friday, received it wednesday, they are in NC.
the stock gate on the hrap3 is square, i HATED the square gate @ the arcades and preferred the circular ones, much easier to do moves imo. the closest they had was the octagonal plate, so that should help somewhat compared to a square gate.

excellent packing also for the buttons hehe, just waiting for my hrap3 to arrive tomorrow so i can mod it and test it out

Lizardlick is great. I've also had great experiences with akihabarashop.jp and they tend to have a greater selection. However, it typically takes a couple weeks before your stuff gets delivered.

just a heads up for anyone building a joystick for the Xbox360 ...

i had built one before and was going to wire a Cthulhu board into my 360 joystick as well to make it work on PS3 and Xbox360 at the same time (with a switch), then I found out that my 360 PCB that i was using did not have a common ground and would not work with the Cthulhu. so i went on the prowl for one that will.

and i found this one...

http://www.gamestop.com/Catalo...8.C10o.hCnwhOjix_hYWWA.

it's $10 at gamestop and all the gamestops (around me) had them in stock still, and they even come w/3 XBLA games lole (although it says the redemption code expired in 08, but i haven't tried them yet).

here is a diagram of the insides of the controller too and it looks like all points are easy access.

That looks pretty awesome for my uses. Might have to pick one of those up now and start ordering sticks and buttons. What would be your (or anyones) recommendation for a pre built case? I wouldn't need any graphics or anything, just a decent box with button and joystick holes.

I think you'll be fine going with either version. The 360 may have more players, but competition will most likely be the same.

i'd think PS3 would.

everyone on xbox360 will THINK they are good, but the true competitors will be on PS3 i think.

I would think that the true competitors would buy/make a joystick and go 360, just because online play works so much better

see that is where i disagree from my experiences ...

on the fighting games i've played, i get less lag on PS3.

xbl is p2p, whereas psn is on a server, so i think in fighters it makes the difference.

i've played SF2 and SF:AC on xbox live, and I've played MK2, Tekken 5, and SSF2THDR on PS3, and I've noticed significantly LESS lag on PSN.

Interesting. If that's the case then yeah, I can totally see the hard-core players all go to the ps3 for sure.

I know if I buy the game, I'll go the PS3 route just because of the D-Pay. I'm not hardcore enough to get a joystick or anything, so I'd go PS3 since I wouldn't need to buy more.

I hope it isn't a pain in the ass to play with friends in SF4 on PS3 though.

If you're willing to "camp" out so to speak, you can try NAS on Sunday when they restock some cases for sale. I'm having a case built by Finkle over at Shoryuken, but it'll be a number of months before I get it.

re: ps3 vs. 360

It's easier to make old PS2 and other sticks compatible with PS3 than 360. So PS3 has the "easier compatibility" thing going. PS3 also has the nicer d-pad.

360 may have more users, so 360 has that going for it.

If you want good competition, just go to shoryuken.com and add members there. There will be plenty for either system.

Ack, those are expensive. I'm not a huge tournament player so I don't need the best of the best, just something OTHER than the controller. I might just find an old broken stick for any console on ebay or something then gut it and swap the buttons and sticks for something a bit better and put in the PCB from the $10 madcatz thing.

i know with hot shots golf 5, in the US it's called "hot shots golf" and in europe it's called "everybody golf" and in japan it's called "minna no golf".

however the US and european people all play on the same servers, but the japanese have their own servers.

I'm pretty sure you'll be able to play against people in Japan. If I recall correctly they did a test where someone in the US played against someone in Japan and it was "lag free"

Weird.. is it the PS3 version? I picked one up from Amazon not too long ago and it was all quick connects. Can you take photos? I know the 360 version supposedly is soldered on for the joystick, but not the buttons.

You ordered the PS3 HRAP3 (just checking)? I got mine from Amazon and it has quick disconnects.

Are you sure you have an HRAP3 or a fightstick3?

rofl never mind, that was my friend typing using my account, apparently he got the wrong size sanwa buttons so he will need to solder them on, OR return the buttons to lizardlick for the 30mm ones

i just modded mine, WOOOOOOOOOOORLD of diff between the button quality, holy crap, didnt think it would be this huge. the hori buttons are complete pieces of sh1t compared to the sanwas...
octagonal plate ftw

There is tons of good comp on the 360 for HDR so I figure it will be the same with SF4. Pure, you are the only person I've ever seen that has said online play with HDR is better on PS3. In around 300 ranked matches I've had maybe 5 or so with noticeable lag.
