Nope I found out about it earlier today. Too late to sign up. I know I'd have no chance but I still like to compete.

yea i signed up a few weeks ago.

i have almost gotten to the point though that i can't take online serious anymore because of the frame lag/delay stuff associated with online play. i can't count how many times i've literally lose matches due to this type of stuff.

EDIT: and i'm talking like 4-5 frames.

i won the first round of the tourney tonight no problem, the other guy just wasn't that good, i felt kind of bad for him cause he was just trying hard and wasn't sure what to do. nice guy though.

then afterwards my 360 froze 2x in a row in matches, so i dunno if i'm goign to be on my 5th RRoD soon or not lol.

FUCKING piss ass pussies on this game use the same fucking combos over and over again (eg: abel's rolling to the other side, grabbing you, and continuing to do this constantly)
I don't want to pay fucking 150 bucks for a decent arcade stick that'll make me competent online, but it seems like I don't have any choice.

haha wow you sound like a scrub, no offense.

if something works, why would your opponent change it up? that would only hinder his chances of winning. if i throw you 2 times in a row, damn right i'm goign to try and throw you a third time in a row. 90% of people will tech it though.

i've literally won a match that ended with me throwing the guy 5 times in a row.

your problem is you can't adapt to your opponents play style, and instead try to make excuses of why stuff is 'cheap' instead of learning how to counter it. that is the whole point of this game, to be able to change strategies on the fly and anticipate what your opponent is going to do.

and most players have 'bnb' combos - bread n butter - which are pretty basic combos that are pretty easy to master, and you're probably just getting owned by bnb's.

LOL post of the thread. Learn 2 adapt. If they are hitting you with the same combo over and over again, you are the one with the problem. I don't think an arcade stick will help with that so save your 150 dollars.

$150 stick would probably make you play worse if you've had no stick experience prior. Save your money unless you really want to take fighting games more seriously.

And to add to that. I once got this ridiculously long threatening message on LIVE after winning an entire match (both rounds) using only sagats crouching fierce punch.. probably one of his worst moves.

i may be on PSN more often soon, last night my 360 froze 2x while playing SF4, the 2nd time was the first fight I hopped into after it froze the first time...

And I've changed my view quite a bit. Throws are indeed not cheap. I was just having trouble timing the block for the throw. Pretty easy now and easy to spot. One player I have trouble with is Abel's rolling thing where he hits you a few times then throws you. Seems it's impossible to block the third string of the punches? Vega is another one I have problems with even he's a lower tier player.

And I've changed my view quite a bit. Throws are indeed not cheap. I was just having trouble timing the block for the throw. Pretty easy now and easy to spot. One player I have trouble with is Abel's rolling thing where he hits you a few times then throws you. Seems it's impossible to block the third string of the punches? with abels change of direction just block high most of the time. the first hit is overhead, so you cant be crouch blocking. the 2nd hit can be either low or mid, but 95% of the time people do the mid one. i'm not sure if you can block the mid one low or not, not sure if it's an overhead. then the last one where he throws you you want to block high. he also has another finisher where he goes low and lifts your legs up and flips you. you can see tihs coming because of the pause before it comes. you just have to be looking for it.

with vega, good vegas can be tricky as hell. what i've noticed in general is that a lot of the low tier players, or people that i just don't see much of, i have trouble facing a good one because i don't know the matchup well at all. i get tihs a lot with sakura players. a good sakura usually can do damage to me cause i really don't know how to defend her.

for abel's CoD, the first hit is not an overhead and can be blocked high or low. The second hit has to be blocked high if it's the punch, or low if it's the sweep. 3rd hit is the same as the second hit.

So what's the purpose of dropping your claw and mask with Vega? does it have any use at all?
