so i dont understand cancelling a special into a focus for more hits.

ie uppercut, focus, dash, release focus ? how does that even work?

It took me several tries to beat Seth with C. Viper, but I had a much tougher time against Zangief.

And yes, I'm trying to cheese through it the easy way to unlock all the characters.

guys if you are just trying to beat it to unlock everyone, put it on easiest, 1 round.

you can do jump kick/sweep pretty much for EVERY person. i would get a perfect like 6/8 rounds, seth included.

also if you have trouble w/people, you can get to seth w/your good characters, then switch to the other people at him, then beat it with them. that counts as "beating the game" with the character.

I walked into my local GS at lunch and grabbed a copy. My indecision on pre-ordering a TE stick is now manifesting itself as a blister. I'm waiting to see if I can get a Norris case this weekend, otherwise I'll just buy a HRAP and mod it.

My PSN handle is "evillejoe", I think - everything else (EVERYTHING) I could think of was taken. I'll probably be home most of tomorrow evening and other than watching a movie, SF4 is all I plan on doing. Gotta build those callouses up after years of letting my thumbs go soft. (And playing on a pad SUCKS)

I think you just tap mp + mk right after you do the srk.

I'm still having trouble timing the dash. Anybody have any advice?

I guess that all depends on why you didn't like HD Remix.

what I have noticed that has made it the FADC (focus attack dash cancel) easier is to try to do them at the same time...

what i mean is, the FADC consists of 2 parts - the focus attack then the dash to cancel out of it, and that is what is key because it will leave you free to chain yet another move and juggle your opponent.

so you have to do a focus attack and then a dash. that would be MK + MP, F, F. this has to be done really fast if you want to be able to pull off a juggle move, and a split second can make the difference here between landing an ultra or not.

so what i've been doing (but haven't done this much, still hasn't gotten too much into advanced tactics yet) is press MK + MP + F, F. so eseentially, you are starting the dash command AS you do the focus attack.

if basically cuts back the command by 1/3 of the commands, which in SF4, can mean the difference between victory and defeat.

the person i practiced FDAC with was Ken. do a Jump HK, LP Dragon Punch, FDAC. if you pull it off correctly you can juggle them into his super move (and his ultra as well I think).

that worked for everyone except seth, when i was using crimson viper to unlock cammy.
he would just knock me down once, and it was over. he kept teleporting nonstop and i would end up facing the wrong way when trying to counter upon getting up, which would then have him to the zangief 360 move on me, oh and his ultra is just pure bs, is there any way to block/counter i?

I didn't have much of an issue beating Seth with C. Viper.. was a bitch with Ryu. I'm just trying to get all the characters right now.. easiest/1match and Seth is still a pain in the ass a majority of the time.

Quick question for you guys that I'm too scared to ask in the Shoryuken forums ......when doing special moves for each player (i.e. shoruken, fireball, hurricane kick, etc) and using a low jab/kick for example, does this lesson the amount of damage done? When doing a hurricane kick, I know that using LK shortens the distance and vulnerability, MK goes a little further, and HK goes the distance, but is the damage the same or lessened?

no you press MK + MP in order to do the focus attack, then you do the dash which cancels you out of the original special move, then the dash is what frees your feet up so you can move.

however you can kind of '2 in 1' into the dash part of the FADC by pressing the first F of the dash WHILE you do the focus attack.

neither the focus attack NOR the dash actually hit the opponent at all, the sole purpose of the FADC is to get you 'free' from the attack animations so that you can juggle your opponents and keep the combo going.

it is definitely an advanced concept and tactic so it may take you some time to get used to. honestly, even though i can do it, i haven't really used it in a match or anything because i'm jsut not thinking about using it while playing at this point.

Played for about two hours last night and made the mistake of turning on live arcade challenge request.

Umm...i got into fights about 26 times with different people...lost twice because i was experimenting with the new characters and i didn't know their move set. so i'm 24 - 2 with a bunch of medals. Ken is still almost unstoppable if u just keep pressure on your opponent. Zangief is a lil bit OP but very beatable if you know his weaknesses. Sagat is just way way way OP. of the 26 matches, my 2 losses were against sagat and those guys weren't even THAT good.

as far as seth goes, i haven't lost to him and i've played all the chars against him. he's pretty easy. the key is to keep an offensive on him. the moment you go on defensive or stand still, he will cheese you to death. jump in with a crossover, a light punch/kick then a special move kicks his ass everytime. this works with c. viper. jump in with a heavy kick, do her special kick move, then do her special punch move with a heavy punch. 3-4 hit combo with ease...sorry can't remember the move names.

this game is a blast...i was in 10th grade when the original SF2 came out and have been a fan since then with all the iterations that came out of that game. basically owned all of them. If you encounter someone online that loves the game and was a fanatic like i was back in the days...its gonna be tough to beat them. this "halo" generation unfortunately does not have the appreciation for this game like the old school peeps like me do.

nah it simply changes the speed of it. the damage is the same for any button.

Kinda hard to appreciate it when you didn't grow up playing it. I do not have appreciation for disco music.
