Stupid Newbie DVD question

Finally got my system up and running. I decided to test my first DVD and it asked me to load some software program from the DVD to view it. It was:

PCFriendly Read Me
PCFriendly © 1997-99, InterActual Technologies, Inc.
Version 2.01.05 for Windows
(July 1999)

First off, do I need to load that one (or some sort of software) in order to watch them? If so, what is the best one out there (or do they differ by each DVD). Anything else I should know?

PS - It's the Pioneer 106 (or something like that).

Thanks Demon - you were truly a great help. Finally got the jumper settings on the CD's all set tonight. The last thing I need to do is create a backup/boot disk for future emergencies...any suggestions. I've already installed Tribes 2 and 3DMark, but aside from that it's still quite clean.

No! You do not need it as stated above. Most DVD movie you put in your PC-DVD will ask you to install some type of 3rd party DVD player software that you do not need.

If you have an ATi video card you should have their DVD player installed. If you have an older ATi video card, you may still be able to download the player, but check for support and the latest driver it you do.

If for some reason you need DVD player software, get PowerDVD or WinDVD.
