So I'm having a talk with my ex over some texts.. how I might smoke MJ every now and then.
She says she's very disappointed in me, for smoking weed. I tell her that in many states there is decriminalization, especially CA. There are major discussions going on for legalizing MJ, and in 2010 I believe the bill for it is going to be introduced. The fines for it are just like speeding ticket fines, which is one step closer to acknowledging that weed is no worse than alcohol.
She says she thinks it's wrong because it's just plain illegal. I laughed and said so if it were legal you would be ok with it? She said no. I told her that alcohol was once illegal, and my great grandma and many other Americans still made it against the governments rulings.
I asked her why she hated it so much. She says because it's smoking, and it impairs your judgement. I said it's smoking sure, but smoking to get a high seems a lot smarter than smoking cigarettes. I tell her Canada and Holland both have it legalized, if it's so bad why would any places think about legalizing it at all? It impairs your judgement, but so does alcohol.
I tell her then you can pretty much make any argument against weed, also against alcohol. She goes out one night a week, has 5 beers. I don't see how that's any different than somebody using moderation on weed.
Is it just me, or do a lot of people just hate weed because it is illegal in some places and they can't come up with a better argument than that? It's like that recent episode of Penn and Teller's Bullshit, when they argue against organic foods. They had two plates of organic and inorganic fruit/veggies that were not labeled. Most people decided they liked the inorganic food better, but were severely disappointed when they found out it was inorganic, and said they would just continue to eat organic food because they were told it's good for them and it's "natural" from the earth. These people are BRAINWASHED.
Ex then says, Well good luck finding a girl that is cool with you smoking MJ. I tell her I'm still young, have had two main relationships that lasted for more than a year, and I'm not really looking for a 3rd any time soon, maybe in a few years.
Cliffs:
1. Have an argument with Ex about weed and why it's bad
2. I shoot down everything she says about it
3. I can't believe the bullishness and how many people will insist that something is bad because it's illegal and yet they can't find any reason why it should be illegal other than the fact that it's illegal now.
4. Ex almost didn't want to be friends, but then looked past it and said she just doesn't want to hear about me doing it. Doesn't matter because I tend to keep it away from most people and not let the cat out of the bag till I know their stance on it.
