I am subscribed to quite a few threads on AT and now I only periodically receive e-mail updates for some of them while others I do not receive at all, even though I know new posts have made in the thread.

Just a heads up and a request to have it looked at/fixed.

Cheers,
KT

The subscriptions have changed in behavior... I seem to be getting only one subscription per visit to the forums (as it was pre-upgrade), though I may also be losing some subscription updates. With that said, I prefer this way, so long as none of the updates are lost.

Well the thing is I think I am losing the updates. :frown:

This morning I jumped back on AT and saw several of the threads I have subscribed to with many new posts in them and I did not receive one notification.

Anyway, hopefully they get it working properly soon.

If you are getting too many notifications, then the solution is simple: DO NOT SUBSCRIBE and Click the UNSUBSCRIBE Button! Please fix the email notifications.

Agreed, multiple pages have gone by in some of my threads and I had no idea about it. I now have to go back and manually check on them. Total pain in the arse.

I appreciate being able to follow many threads without having to sort through tons of notification PMs (and certainly overlook some). It's much better this way. With that said, [to the developers] please put in an option so people like Googer can be happy too.

This issue is getting worse. Please offer a fix soon. I get next to zero notification of replies. As far as I know, this is the only forum that does not allow you to be informed of a reply to a subscribed thread. Many other forums allow you the option of a daily digest, individual emails, or some other customized email notification. One size does not fit all. And to those whom do not like notifications, the solution for you is simple: Do not subscribe to threads. It's like buying a beef hot dog and then complaining that it tastes like meat or calling your own cell phone then getting pissed that it keeps ringing (So stop calling it).

For those of you whom complain about your personal email box being flooded, then do what I have done. I have a second email account that is used solely for forum subsciptions and updates. All my Anandtech, AVS, [-H-], etc are send to my non-personal email box. This email address is one that I do not give out to personal contacts. While on the topic, I also have another email address that I use for site registrations/confirmations that may be of questionable (spam) nature. This sacrificial account gets about 99.9999% of my spam email while my personal-primary account gets on average zero spam messages per week. This system can easily be managed by any POP3/IMAP client like Seamonkey mail, Thunderbird, or Opera.

I highly suggest you try the same, it will make deleting and sorting emails a total breeze.

Quit bitching at people who's preferences aren't the same as yours. I like it the way it is now, but I'm not going to whine that there exist people who don't have the same views. Yes, they need to add options to the forum software. No, the current option should stay for people who want updates, but not CONSTANT, unmanageable ones (your "solution" won't work for those of us who want updates by PM, for example).

I'm not sure how this can be working properly for anyone? There are certain threads I am subscribed to that I wish to watch on a regular basis, however I do not receive e-mail notifications when someone has posted in them, which I thought was the purpose of a subscribed thread.

Maybe I am doing something wrong, but I am not sure what that could be. If I ever do receive a notification, I click through the link and visit the page and read the post. I would assume after I have done that I would receive a new e-mail when another message has been posted, but that is just not the case.

I'm not really sure what your issue is ProviaFan, if you don't want notifications then don't subscribe to the thread, or maybe I am misunderstanding what you are saying.

Anyway, it would be great to get this fixed as it is much more cumbersome to come to my forums and find the subscribed thread I want.

Thank you.

KT

It sounds like you're doing everything ok (I do the same, and get a notification upon the next post to a subscribed thread after my visit). The admins really need to fix this so that it's suitable and working for everyone, but I'm not going to agree with a position that some (not you in particular) seem to be trying to force on those who don't share the same forum browsing habits and preferences.

The simple answer to the very over-simplified "solution" of not subscribing to threads is this: I want notifications, but not a million of them. I do not need to know redundantly, 50 times over, repeatedly, and many times, that an interesting thread which was dead for a few weeks has suddenly seen a slew of new posts.
