I'm sure this is a question that has never come up before
I suddenly can't get Internet access this morning. Called my DSL provider (SBC Ameritech) and they say I pass their tests and the problem must be with my router. However, the rest of the home network works fine, i.e. I can access other machines.
My router is a Netgear RP614. When I go to 192.168.0.1 and I check the Router status on it, the Internet port IP address starts with 69.215, and the domain name server starts with 67.36. So, doesn't this mean the router and the dsl modem are communicating ok? Also, when I click on "connection status" the router says that everything is ok.
The only thing I can think of is that there is a problem with the Internet port on the router, but if so why would I be getting ip numbers for the Internet Port? I don't mind buying another router if that will solve the problem, but I'm wondering if it will. My DSL provider says they can't find a problem, but is there something they could be overlooking?i.e. could they be connecting to my dsl modem ok while still not providing Internet access?
Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks! I hope I don't have to rely on dial-up for too long. rw
