Sugestions On A TV

I looking for hdtv lcd , plasma or dlp. Here what I am looking for
50" - 60"
between 1000-1700, should be 1080p with higher contract ratio.

At 50" your only options are DLP or Plasma and it's no contest...Plasma is better. As for your price requirements, you have very few options in a 1080p plasma as most would be around $2000.

In DLP well, you can find 50" Samsung sets for about $1200.

Personally I don't like DLP and would prefer LCD or Plasma, but at 50" they don't make true LCDs. They are rear projection LCDs which are lower overall picture quality.

If you wouldn't mind 720p then you can get 50" Plasma sets for under $1500 easily.

That Hitachi is 1280 x 1080 Resolution

not true 1080p (1920x1080).

Higher overall panel resolution than 720p televisions (50" screen size has a 32% increase). 1080 lines of resolution, a line for line vertical match for incoming 1080i TV signal. 1280 x 1080 total panel resolution (1.3 Mega Pixel).

So you don't get 1080p, it will scale it down.
