Suggestions on a new CDRW.

Does anyone here have suggestions on CDRWs under $200. I've had a HORRIBLE experience with my Acer 8x4x32x and hardly use the thing because it makes coasters like, well, nobody's business. I should have spent the extra $30 for an HP at the time. Anyway, I'm looking into a 12x burner, but I don't know who makes the best for the best price. It's gotta have that new BurnProof stuff too.

Have you considered the Plextor 12×10×32? It's about 150. Go to pricewatch and search for plextor 12. I've burned about 120 CDs so far at 12× with no prob.

best bang for the buck is TEAC 16x10x40 for $140 at compusa store
and it can be as low as $99 after you send mir.

I like the HP drives. Not sure if any of them have Burnproof but my drive has a 4MB buffer and has never given me a buffer underrun before...

PleXtor all the way. I've got several 12/10/32 models and 2 16/10/40 that I absolutely love. Never had the slightest problem, and they're getting cheaper every day. You may be able to find a good deal on a "rebadged" PleXtor (Iomega 'Zip' are the most common) but there are others. There's also a $20 rebate I believe for the 12/10/32 floating around, which would make it around $100-$120 after rebate.
