I've been looking at this site for awhile, and am planning on buying the Athlon Best Buy:

http://www.myjackrabbit.com

I found this after I saw the dealer's auction on ebay, who's ID is myjackrabbit btw. I'd go check it out if you're looking for a new desktop. There are many systems But I'm gonna include the one I'm buying below. Post what you guys think!

Athlon Best Buy:

Yeah, that is a pretty good price, though before today I had never HEARD of that motherboard.

Be careful. Sometimes you get what you pay for!

This is neither super fast nor super cheap...

As a rule, I'd say never buy anything from ebay dealers.

Just to point out a few great flaws of this system, and to suggest an alternative:
1. Jetway 867AS XP Motherboard - What is Jetway and what kind of a board is this? Most likely the biggest piece of junk ever.
2. 40GB ATA-100 hard drive (5400RPM) - 5400RPM drives are generally cheap and VERY slow as main system drives.
3. 64MB nVidia GeForce2 MX 400 AGP4X Card - Cheap card and you don't even know the manufacturer.
4. Mid Tower w/300 Watt Power Supply - Case picture Click Here! - POS case
The rest (all filler):
UltraDMA/66/100 IDE, 4xAGP, 2x USB, 5x PCI, 1x AMR, 2x Serial, 1x Parallel ECP/EPP port
Integrated 32bit Sound
Logitech Scroll Mouse
Logitech Internet Keyboard
HUGE! 5000rpm CPU Fan
4" Case Fan
120 Watt Stereo Speakers

A much better alternative:
1. Get new ECS K7S5A motherboard (has decent integrated sound and NIC): $65 shipped
2. Get used 1.4Ghz TBird here on the forums: $85 shipped
3. Get 256MB Crucial PC2100 DDR SDRAM: $35 + tax (local)
4. Get ABIT SILURO T400: $78 shipped
5. Get 40GB Maxtor/IBM 7200RPM HDD: $100 shipped
6. Get Antec SX830 (with 300W Antec PSU): $70 shipped
7. Get LiteOn 24/10/40 CDRW Drive: $85 shipped
8. Floppy drive, cheapo keyboard & mouse: $30
9. Get Altec Lansing ADA880 speakers (refurb): $24 shipped

This configuration is light years away from the config. you posted here for very little more money. It comes out to just over $570, total. You even get a nice CDRW drive and pretty much the best case you can come by for under $150. You also get nice 4.1 surround speakers with remote.

I'm not sure that $539 is a good price when it includes a 5400 rpm drive and a MX vid card. Seems like it could be put together cheaper or a better system for the price (but who knows, I've been hanging around HOT DEALS too much lately )

Good Luck....

(P.S. I hope this isn't an AD?!? :Q)

ugh...that's the sound of me thread crapping.

spend a couple of days on this board, get better components at a cheaper price and build it yourself.

Jetway 867AS specs

I looked up the mobo specs just out of curiosity. Not too bad: VIA KT266 chipset; supports both SDR SDRAM and DDR SDRAM (not simultaneously).

Still, I agree with Igobyte that this is not a great deal. You can easily beat that price by building one yourself. Plus, you'll have much more fun.

I thought these were pretty good deals but oh well. I'll be sure to check up on the prices Igo. And no this isn't spam, I'm in no way affiliated with myjackrabbit :| I'm on a 260 right now though and I don't feel like waiting to find good prices to upgrade my laptop. Need a good comp and I want it now, and I saw this site. Oh wellz, I'll check up for better systems later.

Says you can substitute the motherboard for an ECS.. and can upgrade to a 24x burner (with burn proof) for only another $19. You can also upgrade the CPU to a 1600 for another $29.

I like the 4" case fan... I usually mod mine to fit a 4" as well.

Not bad for someone who does not want to build his/her own.

Shipping is reasonable.... and I don't believe any tax..? Hmmmmmmmmm..

i agree with macka... i've bought a couple systems from www.cyberpowerpc.com and had some good experiences. agree they are a little slow to ship but the prices are good and the quality is right as you get to pick what you want in the box, almost as good as building it yourself!

Good luck.

Build your own. Look at my Big Dawg rig. Cost me around $650 and will smoke that rig you were talkin about. From the case, to the Mobo, to the video card, all for 100 more!
