I picked one up during the last sale... very nice and best bang for the buck.

I concur with the door, often gets caught when the drives are ejecting and closing.

Yes, that is one complaint of mine, but I guess I'm reasonably flexible so it doesn't bother me much. That's the door won't stay open and I have to hold it open to eject and/or close the DVD drive.

Thats a deal killer for me. I do not want any delays or have to fiddle with asthetics when i am burnin' my data ; )

I got one of these last time as well. Very pleased with how quiet it is. Mine did not have a pc speaker built in. Anyone else have that problem?

This is a great case I bought it at bestbuy around a year ago for $100. She has served me well for almost a year so far

Yes, I contacted Antec and was told that case did not come with a case speaker.

Heh bit the bullet and just bought mine yesterday. I was switching from an X-Dreamer II which I was dissatisfied with because the front led was busted and the overall construction seemed a tad shoddy. Not to mention that I had to have 2 intake and 2 outputs fans so there was a lot of messy wiring. At first glance when I saw it at Compusa, I was a bit worried cause it seemed really frail and shoddy. But I bought one (it weighs like NOTHING) anyway, took it home and shifted all my parts into it. It's def. a bit cramped on the inside with a full size ATX board AND with my Thermaltake Silent Purepower (LONG WIRING), I had to jam all the wires in all the nooks. But once I installed all the components and fired it up I was AMAZED at the performance. Long story short, with all the same components (mobile barton 1.7ghz, ALX-800, 3 HD's):
X-Dreamer II at idle with case open and 4 case fans:
CPU: 45C
Case: 44C
Super Lanboy at idle with case completely closed and 2 case fans:
CPU: 38C
Case: 36C

In addition to the 120mm fans, the aluminum construction and the side mounted HD's def contribute to more effective cooling. And despite its flimsy appearance, the case is quite solid.

Still expensive for a case without a PSU. You can get a good antec case with a good 350-watt psu for <$50 without any rebates.

Really? With 2x120mm quiet fans? Do you have a link?

I got my Antec rebate two weeks ago from that late Dec deal on the Lanboy from Outpost. Not too bad of a wait. My Compusa had a stack of these on the floor yesterday and there were three customers at lunch time carrying theirs to the checkout.

yup got mine yesterday and finally after about an agrivating hour or two got all my leds and power switch in the correct spot

although the case is a bit small, it provides excellent cooling and is really sturdy

I passed on this one last time because of the door on the front. Like some of the other posters here I'm not a fan of having anything in the way of my drives. My question to those who have this is: can the door be taken off easy without breaking it or damaging the case? Maybe there are some screws or pins that can be removed?

Also, how would this compare to the case I've been thinking about getting?

It seems to get some good reviews all around for room, quality of construction, and circulation. Other than being a bit boring it seems to have everything I want. And with shipping it's about the same cost as the Antec is AR plus tax.

It is not easy to remove the door. I have not been able to remove it yet.
The case you have linked seems to use 80mm fans. This one has 120mm fans (quieter).

Personally, I think the Super Lanboy is in an entirely different league than the Newegg case linked above. While the Super Lanboy does have the door (annoying for some - true), it is designed with the LAN in mind. This thing is LIGHT. The entire case loaded is lighter than most steel cases empty! Being designed with the LAN in mind, it also includes the carry strap and an excellent LED fan. Cooled by 2 (yep, 2!) 120mm fans (included!), this thing is QUIET. Add a CCFL and this thing is a beauty.

The Newegg case mentioned above looks like most $30 cases I've seen at the stores and like you said, it is a little boring. For a utilitarian case, it does seem to get some good reviews. I just think the comparison is apples and oranges.

The Super Lanboy rocks and is the perfect case for carrying to your next LAN. With the rebate, it is a steal.

You're right, but for me it's not really a factor. I don't plan on hauling my PC around by a strap. So yes, that's definately a plus for many, but not for me. I'm just looking for an inexpensive, well built case with some room to move around in. I'm not totally worried about it being a bit cramped since I don't plan on having more than one optical drive, one floppy, and at most (for the forseeable future) two hard drives. I'm not going to have a massive heatsink on my CPU, nor a PSU with tons of extra connectors (I assume higher wattages have more connectors for more stuff). I'm confident everything would fit without much problem in the Antec, and I won't be doing work on it very often once everything is plugged in.

The way I'm looking at it isn't apples and oranges. I'm just trying to figure out if this would be a better "every day" type case that will mostly sit under my desk and rarely be opened for anything, let alone moved. If that were a concern of mine I would have bought it the last time this deal came up

edit: And it looks like the case actually has one 120mm in the back, not two 80mm. At least that's what many of the reviews say.

Understood. In that case, in sticking with Antec (quality!) I would highly recommend the following:

Antec CS200 ($25)
Antec CS400 ($40)

These come in either black or beige and carry the quality Antec is known for. These are inexpensive cases (without PSU) and actually have modding potential, should you change your mind.

You can find them for that price at CompUSA (I hate em too):

LINK

Although, the Super Lanboy is an excellent deal with this rebate.

Awesome, thanks for the info. Most Antec cases I've seen have the door on the front, are too expensive, or are way too much case for me. Plus I like the beige over the black because it's easier to find drives that match it (not to mention I already have a CDRW/DVD drive I want to put in my new build that's beige). Small detail, I know, but still. I'm surprised NewEgg doesn't have these cases. Heck, I can't even find them on Antec's site. At any rate, I'll add the CS200 to my list of cases to consider. As good as the LanBoy deal is, it's probably not what I'm looking for. If it had a PSU included it would have been a no brainer

It does. Wait till you actually need one. Else it'll just sit there collecting dust.

This case is typically 49.99-59.99 at Fry's, and in Beige and Black. It has 120mm rear exhaust, 92mm intake, side air duct hovering directly over CPU fan, and a great 350-watt power supply.

Most importantly, no annoying drive-bay door. The black one looks pretty snazzy, but for whatever reason the black model Newegg carries lacks the PSU all together, very odd.

This is life. You make choices! There is no one option for everyone to follow.
I prefer the LANboy compared to this because its intake is also 120mm. A larger fan at the same RPM and noise can cool better. Or, at the same cooling (lower RPM) will be quieter.
The intake fan directly cools the hard drives as well.
The door is not too bad actually. It blocks dust from entering my DVD writer.

I am sure that someone else may prefer a different case. I don't expect everyone to like this case. I do.
