Can you make a section for worst processor running in a main comp? I'm confident I'd win.

well, here is score #1...

The Dothan was too warm to run 225 so I ran it at 220 for the test.

Pentium M 730 @ 220 (2640mhz) with 1.4V
Crucial Ballistix Tracer (Micron 'C') 1:1 @ 2.5-2-2-5 (2.85V)
Asus P4P800-E Deluxe + Asus CT-479

Thats a good question, but I think clock for clock the Athlon 64 would win in a real world situation but I am not sure.

that is why most P-M users run superpi all day!! I am at an all Intel site and I cant get those guys to stop benching 3dmark and superpi 1mb long enough to run an encoding DIVX test, rendering test and about a handful others I asked for....Pretty much their MO!!!!

There needs to be somewhere that Intel Pwns!!!

I am just hoping for a good next gen intel. Hopefully this shows some promise, a p-4 at 4 ghz cant run that superpi!

5m 52s This calculation was done using the SSE3 version.

I had task manager open to the performance tab. Both cores were a mirror image of each other the entire run, the strange thing is neither core went over 51%. I tried setting the affinity to just 1 core so as to utilize 100% of 1 core, and Super PI froze, with both SP M 1.4 and SSE3 version. I wonder if theSuper PI mods will ever optimize for dual core and 64-bit.

Here is a screen shot of Super PI at 50% load the enitre run. I tried both SP M 1.4 and SSE3. 1.4 was slower than SSE3 for me.

Not to bad for a 2+ year old P4 CPU. Got some good mileage out of this one.
Just purchased an x2 4400+ and will post again latter with results.

My question is why separate dual core from single core???? duh!!! It is not multithreaded so it will make no difference. MHZ wins here plain and simple with a slight edge on similiar speed system going to highest bandwidth/lowest timings.....

The trick will be I can run it at 8mb while I encode a 5min avi clip on TMPGenc to mPeg2 and still only be a bit behind Darkknight69 and his dothan while he does nothing else....That is priceless!!!!

I could do it with a $365.00 dollar 3800+ X2 on a$80 dollar MSI board with no extra adapter I have to pay for....

Yes very easily....superpi will only take 1 core and tMPGenc by default will take only one unless you turn on multithreaded for it.

So the question is if there was a way (which there isn't so far since I tried) to get 2 instance of superpi to run would I get bonus points for running 2 8mb test simultaneously and still getting about a 5:4x or so??? I mean I would be getting 200% more done at only about 5-7% slower....seems like I would win!!!

just joking but trying to shed light on absolutely no need to separate dual core form single core in this test....
