Some folks had asked, so here it is. Just got this back yesterday.

Car has a 5L 500hp V10 stock. However, this one has a full exhaust, headers, SMG transmission software upgrade, lowering springs, sway bars, and a bunch of other aftermarket upgrades.

Plumbing and liquid for water to air chargecooler:

Top silver radiator is the water to air chargecooler. The bottom silver radiator is the RPi high efficiency oil cooler:

Secondary intake:

Primary intake:

Vortech V3Si supercharger:

The car will by dyno'd tomorrow. Hopefully, some more power can be squeezed out by improving the intake setup, but chances are slim. It's a pretty tight fitment as is.

It be participating in an airstrip drag event in a couple weeks.

I'd be a bit concerned about the intake drawing in hot air from the engine compartment, but otherwise it looks pretty slick. Good luck with the event!

Me too. I'm not a big fan of hot air intakes.

This being said, there's a real problem with fitment. The stock air intakes are not large enough to supply the necessary volume to support the extra power, and there's no single hole big enough to fit piping through to relocate the filters. Will definitely need to tinker with it to see if anything can be done.

There is certainly not much room under that hood. Is this your car?

BMW's can't be mentioned in the garage anymore. The last BMW thread was locked and the OP banned. While I have no idea how such a bizarre rule came into being, it's enforced.

Trolling/Mod Callouts will not be tolerated. You know why the last thread was locked, which it was edited and re-opened later so knock it off.

It's not BMW that can't be mentioned. It's a very specific model that can't be mentioned, I'm sure we all know what it is.

Oh, drop the topic before we all get banned.

brb, fapping

I'm back! Just call me the "minute man."

It is because there are enough copycat threads in OT that we don't need 'em here. The other mods have already had to restrain me because I was all for 1 month bans for anyone and everyone that starts a copycat thread, even in OT.

Don't let this thread end up like the last. If these accusations continue, I'll start handing out vacations instead of infractions.

How does the SMG like the extra power? I've heard that those trannys can be finnicky at stock levels and like to eat clutches during city driving. I'd hope it would be okay to handle the extra 150-200hp.

Was the bottom end touched? I know that engine has high compression stock.

No, it's the wife's car.

in for dyno results
OP how much boost will you be running?

6.5 PSI, 91 octane pump.

Doing it right!

What kind of range are you looking for?

I'm honestly not positive. Going to be going on a DynoDynamics dyno. As you probably already know, those tend to be on the very conservative side. The stock 500hp (to the crank) M5/M6 tend to show roughly 380hp to the wheels on it. For reference, on a Mustang dyno, you'll tend to see about 400-410hp or so to the wheels, and on a DynoJet, you'll see about 415-425hp stock.

My guess is it'll be about 180hp bump to the crank, so maybe mid 500's to the wheel on that dyno.

Sick. More pics of the car?

It looks like most M5, except for the slight lowering, wheels, exhaust, etc. Didn't go nuts on it. I like the stock shape.

SMG isn't too bad at these levels, so far. I guess we'll see as time goes on.

Bottom end was untouched, as is compression at 12.0:1. May need to make changes for the next stage up. I think that's still at least half a year off though.

Didn't you have a thread about this a year+ ago? I remember you were contemplating upgrading the wife's grocery-getter then.

Pretty awesome either way.

You mentioned in the letter-after-L thread that you had a deposit down on an F10 M5. Was that slated to replace this car?
