So we agree that no settlement has happened then. The New Yorker ran an interview of Leslie Stahl (senior 60 Minutes stalwart) May 31st in which this appears:
I have to say, Lesley—and with no relish at all—it looks pretty obvious at this point that they’re going to settle that lawsuit just as ABC did, so that they can be sold to Skydance.
Yes.
I live in one of the most poor and rural locations in the US, south central Louisiana, and I get around 25 channels, reliably.Assuming you live within range of those signals ... not always the case. And it doesn't account for producers using exclusivity of certain distribution methods either.
Calling it "completely" due to that is probably not really that accurate.
Yes, yes and yes. I do OTA. Almost never subscribe to anything. Did MAX no-ads for a couple months for some specific stuff and cancelled effective 5 days ago.Which is completely due to the ignorance of the masses who dont realize that you can get 20+ channels of HD content, PBS, local news, and the big 4 broadcast networks for free with a simple outside antenna connected to your TV. Add a no-subscription-required OTA DVR device like Tablo and you can pause, record, and stream to every smart device in your house. Spend about $200-$300 for an initial setup like this and TV is free for the rest of your life.
But no, due to technical ignorance of todays "tech savvy" people, you dont have TV unless you have NFlix, Prime, AppleTV, etc. etc. Pay, pay, pay, every month, for the rest of your life. And, pretty soon, like you said, they will start to shut down terrestrial broadcast towers and that will be the only choice, as if we arent nickel and dime'd enough for everything already as it is.
OK, but like seen, it's assumed it will, so BFD. See ya on the other side.So we agree that no settlement has happened then.
Well duh, when you’re gonna grift grift for more.OK, but like seen, it's assumed it will, so BFD. See ya on the other side.
Trump refused their $15M offer, demanding $25M.

I have 43" 4k Roku TVs (cost me less than $250 each and have rooftop antennas) so can FF/Pause/Rewind for the last 90 minutes of programming (which gets zapped if I change channel ). I need to do the OTA DVR thing, haven't gotten around to it. Thanks for the tip there, @Josh128. I had something "in mind" but haven't checked it out.

We’ve got an OTA TIVO that we paid for the lifetime channel guide and schedule subscription it’s been great for watching the news and a couple of shows we care aboutNot to go too much off topic, but the no-subscription OTA DVR is a miracle worker, I HIGHLY recommend one. We use ours to record the local and national news on our preferred channels every day, and they also allow you to record series, even if they play at completely random days and times, like PBS Nature & NOVA. I have two ChannelMaster DVR+ units (that are no longer manufactured, unfortunately), 1 in living room and 1 in bedroom and we use them EVERY SINGLE DAY. We have a 1TB external drive connected to each one. They dont even have wifi, the program guide via the data stream from the off air channels themselves is sufficient. They are fantastic, but ChannelMaster replaced them with an inferior model that was completely different, cheaper and much less robust, despite "wifi". I tried one of those (which have also since been discontinued) and found it to be junk compared to the DVR+.
Ive not tried the Tablo, as the DVR+ units do everything I need, but if I had to try something new, I would go that route. If you can find a good deal on a used DVR+ on Ebay and dont need Wifi connectivity, they are fantastic for what they do, IMO.

As the crow flies, Im 75 miles from Baton Rouge, 150 miles from New Orleans. I dont channels from either of them. I get stations out of Lafayette, Alexandria, & Lake Charles.Proximity/distance to N.O. or Baton Rouge?
I live in a ~100k city that has ZERO broadcast stations, the closest is ~60 miles away, is only for CBS, and isn't reliably available due to weather/geography.
I haven't seen the most recent coverage #s, but it's simply not an option for everyone.
I live probably about 20 miles as a crow flies from Seattle proper (damn my r key is starting to die), and I can't get a good signal for any HD network or PBS channels probably due to the Puget sound and 2 ridges between. Anyway, there's a small mountain over my shoulder and on it is a big TV transmitter that has Fox, and about 5 religious channels that I can get just fine. So much for over the air broadcast since they decided to abandon VHF when switching over the HD which has much superior reach (but not as much bandwidth).Proximity/distance to N.O. or Baton Rouge?

I have an omnidirectional internally amplified antenna on a 25' mast above my house, going to a 4 port distribution amplfier at the base, with cables from there to my living room, utility room, and 3 bedrooms. I catch KPLC (Lake Charles) which is around 60 miles, just fine. Height is everything with terrestrial reception, especially if you live in hill country. Thanks for the info! I do a LOT of ebay buying of used stuff with great success. Got a couple packages in the last week, A+ transactions. Will look into the DVR+ and Tablo. I've been meaning to go DVR on my OTA stuff for years now. I did with my projector setup which is based on old PC DVI cards (MyHD120) that are good res but have some nasty bug issues. That has software that's DVR and I can watch recordings at any time, still can, but I like my 4k TVs' image a lot more and have just put up with the vast restriction of having to be within 90 minutes of live broadcast of anything I watch. Even so, I NEVER watch live, hate commercials! Not to go too much off topic, but the no-subscription OTA DVR is a miracle worker, I HIGHLY recommend one. I live in metro Bay Area. TV is pretty much everything, certainly the major networks, which is pretty much all I tune into anyway and from one direction. I would like some low power FM from other directions, my car gets them. I bought FM specific antennas for that.As the crow flies, Im 75 miles from Baton Rouge, 150 miles from New Orleans. I dont channels from either of them. I get stations out of Lafayette, Alexandria, & Lake Charles.
