SUVs stink, don't u agree?

They lose balance too easily, they always flip over! SUVs stink!! The engineers who designed those SUVs must have not gotten A on their General Physics 101 course!

How about you test an SUV under normal driving conditions? the damn things were built to be stable while on rocky terrain, not to be raced like a porsche...

Yes, I agree. The smaller ones (and some of the full-sized) have the same engines that are in other automobiles, but they get lousy gas milage? Besides... why would I want to pay extra for an automobile that will climb over small trees when I live downtown?!

My truck runs over noisy peds. well enough.

I used to rockpound in my 97 Land Cruiser and never had a problem. Those solid live axles got me through any ditch with no problems. In 1 week I'll be able to take those turns @ 50MPH.

SUV's have a purpose - and it's not dropping the kids off at the private school when it's slushy outside. Many use them as station wagons, which are now out of vogue. And as popular as minivans are, they should be more so.

Still, it is not the SUVs which are flipping - it's the drivers. People who think that they can drive a SUV in the same manner they drove their sedan or even their minivan are mistaken. Badly.

Perhaps there should be a greater onus on the manufacturers and dealerships to educate the consumer on the differences, but how many of you have actually read a users' manual?

Now, I did agree with the Consumers Report study which found the Isuzu Trooper to be unstable. Vehicles should be subject to some basic stability tests, and the Trooper fails.

Call me crazy, call me a Libertarian, or even call me Cathy, but the real problem is the drivers.

Almost all full size SUV's have V8s under the hood... I would love for you to find me one CAR that has a V8 under the hood that doesnt guzzle gas... And like I said before, you find me a vehicle that i can haul my boat, jet skis, camper, but also has luxuries such as heated leather seats, in dash GPS, and traction control, and I will buy it tomorrow...

I would buy a truck that does the same damn thing before I buy an SUV. An SUV is the prissy version of a good, hard-working truck.

My best friend Mark has a car with a V-8. It gets 12-14 mpg after it has a tune-up. That's not bad compared to the whopping 8 that some SUV's get.

Yeah, I know that stands for Sports Utility Vehicle, but are the real "jeeps" (cars that are really meant for climbing in the mud/on the rocks, like mine ) SUV's ? I know that Gaz69 can easily flip over, when going only about 40 MPH, but this car is really meant for heavy terrain... (and that's why I like it )

Hey Chansen, Defref.. werd up, I agree totally. SUV's rock! Of course, in a year or so, I'll be going for a car. Only thing I'll miss is the 4wd and ride height... damn gas guzzlers. I tell you it's eating up mad money driving between Pittsburgh and NYC.

I don't know how people expect to be able to take "really sharp" corners at 50 mph in an SUV. I can't take a 90º corner much faster than 30 - 35 mph in my Accord, & I'd be scared sh!tless to feel that kind of sideways force in something that carries its mass so high.
