60 dead?! Oh NOOOOEEEEES!!!

To put it in perspective, the "regular" flu kills 10's of 1000's in the U.S. annually. But, that's not newsworthy because it doesn't have a cool name like "swine flu."

Hmm, this is a virus from a bio-weapon? Wonder how that got out, must have been camel riding terrorists.

That chose to release it in.... Mexico

It is an interesting scenario. Thousands come up through the borders, sick, spreading it through the US. Since we can't contain our own borders and these people drive around the US unchecked and unfettered, they can spread everywhere and anywhere. Interestingly enough, they come in contact with other illegals hired by wealthy individuals to work in their houses (see prep school).

It's like letting loose thousands of little bombs with no hope of countering them.

Not that I believe that, but it is an interesting scenario.

Indeed, seems similar to the Bat Bomb concept.

It has just started and the amount of infected is fairly low so far.

Right. So, we should fuel the mass panic by forgetting that the CDC is relatively optimistic about the situation and development of a vaccine (judging by their conference on Thursday) and that the virus is dependent on human behavior.

Quick, stock up on duct tape, cough drops, and antibiotic hand sanitizer on your way to work!

Just from a quick search the 1918 pandemic had a 2.5% mortality rate, the average flu is what? .05%

So far this is 6%-ish, so yeah that's 'oh Noooess' douche bag.

It's a Catholic prep school. Mexicans are Catholic. And it's in Queens, not Manhattan.

Not the right time to be cavalier and dismiss this issue.

This virus has been determined NOT to be swine flue. That is the important point. It is a person-to-person contagious, hereto unknown strain--unknown where it originated.

Caution and vigilance is the way to go here...

Did I say we all should panic?

Uhhhh...no.

We are over-due for a pandemic. It is only a matter of time....

Luckily we have a Medic, a Scientist, an Operations Specialist, a Dispatcher, and a Researcher.

I just picked that up recently, dang that is a tough game. Me and my friends are still trying to determine what the correct strategy is. So far we've gotten quickly overrun every time.

Last year there was an outbreak (False) of tainted tomatoes. Then the president of Mexico said there is no way it came from Mexico. Then it turned out to be tainted peppers and it was proven to come from Mexico. Now a Killer Flu once again we have a threat from Mexico. We should close the border to Mexico and move troops to the border. Then we should ban all tourism and travel to Mexico (including air Travel and Cruises). Nothing good comes from Mexico.

Thanks, I don't know NYC geography, considering I live/work in NYC. Queens has plenty of nicer areas, but the theory remains the same. You're just trying to inflate your e-penis.

I'm simply correcting your "theory". You probably haven't lived here long enough to know that wealthy people don't really live in Queens, NY. They live in Manhattan. And the kids that got sick at that prep school are most likely poor or middle class, not rich.

Make sure you are doing the epidemic distribution right. Master the 4 epidemic game before trying the 5 and 6. Our group has beaten the 6 epidemic game 2 out of about 20 tries. So yeah, it is difficult. Key: pushing the medic around with the dispatcher.

I know a few people who have money that live in Queens. I know even more that don't live in Manhattan. Your correction isn't as accurate as you seem to think.

I'm not sure why you wrote that considering it doesn't change what I said. Your theory was neat but garbage.

Ah, you finally guessed what I was doing, namely putting holes in your scenerio. I apologize if you took offence to that.
