Switching Mobos

Currently my specs are as follows:

AMD Thunderbird 850 @ 910 (107x8.5/1.80V)
Alpha PAL6035MUC Socket-A Heatsink/Fan

Dual IBM Deskstar 30gig 7200 UDMA100
configured as one 60 gig RAID-0 Striping Array

OCed @ 220MHz Core / 380 MHz Memory

Soundblaster Live! X-Gamer

Addtronics 7896A Full-Tower w/ 300W PS

I plan on switching my video card to the Radion 9700Pro, and going with one of the higher end P4's(maybe 3.06HT), and Id like to keep my old RAM in the system (will I see big gains if I buy newer RAM??). I do alot of 3-D gaming and some video/sound editing. Which RAID Mobo would you guys reccomend for someone with my setup? How does the Gigabyte GA-8IEXP stack up?

Using Sdram and P4 is just shooting yourself in the foot. Its like buying a Corvette then getting some 4 for $100 tires.

If you want to save the Ram get a AMD Athlon XP setup. AMD does not lose that much performance with Sdram.

But you do better getting a nForce2 board, Athlon XP and some DDR

SDram won't work in a P4 system. There are a few AMD-based boards that can use both DDR and SDram, but they also have older chipsets. I would get DDR and a recent MB.

If you wnat something cheap and fast and want to save your sdram then look for the ASROCK K7VT2

It uses the KT266a chipset and has the new 8235 southbridge. BUT it takes either Sdram or DDR
