The Russians are trying to negotiate for the use of their two major Syrian bases (presumably by paying off HTS). Remains to be seen if this is workable and they are preparing to sealift stuff out if it isn't. Dunno how durable this approach is since Syrian ill will against the Russians is going to be considerable.

Anyway goes to show how much Moscow really deeply does not want to lose access to these assets.

I dont think HTS will be in the good graces of the US or Israel for long. I can see Russia stepping in as their potential ally and re-establishing themselves in Syria. Its all interest driven and I doubt the Russians and HTS will let past history or grudges get in their way.
