Radeon 7850 is a nice graphics card, suitable to be paired even with a current tech CPU. And certainly it is not 5 year old tech. Only Wolfdale platform is. The new build (based on new tech) could also include Radeon 7850 so you will not be "half way to it". You will have only $150 available for the new build (for CPU+MB+RAM).

So there is no justification to include the cost of Radeon 7850, or if you insist on including it, then you can not apply the "5 year old tech" label to the whole thing.

Just having fun... relax. I understand where you were going, though. As I mentioned to Torn, I don't think in the OP's case that would have been a good fit given his purpose and the end user... and the fact he is in Australia. But that is my opinion...

As suggestion, no, it really wasn't a good one. Not when the Pentiums are available and do pretty much the same thing, but with updatability to an i5 later on. But as I said, I do not think making a suggestion was his priority, just finding an outlet to express that dual cores still offer decent performance, although he made a false dilemma with regards to "Trendy Bridge" vs Core 2 Duo.
