System Not Powering Up!

Hardware :

Everything is brand new.

MSI K8N Neo Platinum 64-Bit
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
Antec Truepower 430
512 333 DDR
GeForce FX 5200 128
Logitech Keyboard + Wireless mouse

At first we were experiencing random reboots during the Win64 installations.

We put the setup in a new case and now we can't even get the thing to power up, at all.

It doesn't even try to start. We press power and absolutely nothing happens.

I figured it might be the new cases power switch that is not functioning, so instead of using that we brought a different case over. We connected that cases power switch to the new motherboard.

I'm guessing in theory it would work. We tried powing up the motherboard using the other cases power switch instead of moving everything into the case. Nothing happened once again. Now I'm not even sure if this would work even on a fully functional setup.

Any ideas?

Cliff Notes :

Moved setup to new box, press power, absolutly nothing happens.

UPDATE :

Nevermind. It's a faulty motherboard.

We bypassed having to use the powerswitches alltogether by hotwiring the box. There was no response.

All you have to do is breifly connect the 2 power pins that the case switch connects to with something metal. Example touch them briefly with a screwdriver. That should power it on.

Yea I tried that. It didn't power up, the board is shot. I'm now in the process of getting the board ready to get shipped back to MSI and replaced.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Why send it to MSI and not the place where you bought it? MSI RMA's will likely take much longer than a retailers RMA's.

are you sure it is a faulty Motherboard.. i had the same problem.. just take it out of the case and set it on top of a table... then put just the essentials...i.e ram cpu and hook power supply then try to boot it.... if that doesnt work use the cmos reset and take out the battery, then after about 15 mins replace...
hope this helps cause rma sux

Exactly. HALF the motherboards I would get back where someone stated they were dead, were in fact NOT.

DO NOT discount the motherboard as dead until you take EVERYTHING off of it, including CPU, take it OUT of the case, set it on the table and ONLY hook up the PSU to it. Touch the PWRON pins together with the tip of a screwdriver and see what happens.

List of potential problems:

Grounded out on case.
Grounded out on extra stand off.
Dead video card.
Dead PCI card.
Chassis USB port wired incorrectly.
Reversed IDE cable.
Faulty CPU.
Faulty RAM.....

I'm sure there's potentially more....

If the original post was "I get memory beeps," or "heat," or "lock ups," or "compatibility issues with the newest software...." then I'd see the relevance. Otherwise, components FAIL. That's a given REGARDLESS of the platform.

Nope.

It is completely dead.

And if I have to be McGuyver to get it running, I don't want it anyways.

I have done all of the steps above. It is still dead.

Thank you for the help.
