system wont boot

or post for that matter.. I built this system 3-4 years ago, havnt had any real issues with it since I was first putting it together until this week I went to turn it on and nothing happened, checked all the connections and everything seemed fine.. checked inside to see if anything seemed out of place but everything was ok. when I plugged it back in and turned the power supply on it started up all the sudden.. all fans/drives/lights work, but it will not even post much less boot and will only turn on/off at the power supply switch for some reason..

I tried flashing the CMOS but nothing changed, was thinking to start removing hardware and see what happens... Any help/input would be great!

okay, you skipped as to why you had to turn it on, and why it had been off.

oh sorry.. I just havn't been using it as much lately, been busy with work and hadnt really had time. so it had been sitting 3-4 days since the last time I used it, I dont really use it for games anymore, just music and internet mostly. I was just gonna turn it on to check my email and add some music to my iPod and it surprised me by not turning on, I've not had any issues with it for 3+ years.

edit: I always shut it down when not in use, so its not left running all the time like some.

Sounds like a PS going bad.

or a power surge hit it, need to manually test the PSU with a multimeter. then test the UPS (hope you have one), and then the electrical outlet. do you use any window mounted air conditioner units in the house anywhere?

no AC, and no UPS :\ I'll have to pickup a multimeter to test.. I think I might have a 400w PS I could swap in and try aswell.
