That Taisol has a really wimpy fan on it. 10mm height.

Thanks for the site, though. Great deals on a huge selection of coolers.

Cheers,

Acually, the Taisol 742 Forged is an awesome cooler. I had a Super Orb on my KT7-raid that I got rid of on egay 'cause it was too loud and picked up this one from inflow direct. $23 is a *warm* to *hot* deal.

The Taisol is way better than the super orb IMO. full load I hit 44.6C and no load I hit 24.5C. Much quieter too, almost equivalent to the athlon stock fan. The fan may look small, but it moves a crap load of air. (I think 23 cfm to be exact).

My system? 800Mhz overclocked to 1Ghz on a KT7-raid.

that heatsink and "wimpy" fan allows my tbird 750 to run at 1070mhz. not too shabby for a wimpy fan

That fan pushes 21 cfm if I remember correctly, not too shabby. But, if your thinking about putting one on an MSI Pro2a your gonna have to get your hack saw out of your computer tool kit to cut about 1/4" off of one corner to clear a choke thats in the way.

Are you guys leaving the pad on the Taisol or using Arctic Silver, etc.?

Got my fan today, I ordered it on the 30th. I'm waiting for my 5/4Ghz from Compuwiz1 and my KT7A-RAID from ajump.com.

Is the thermal pad pretty good or should I used heatsink compound from Radio Shack?

That thermal pad is better than compound from radio shack....

Unless you opt for arctic silver or lapping leave the pad on....It's actually very efficient

Is this fan going to fit on Abit KT7-A. I think I read that there is a little less room on the KT7-A than the old KT7. To that guy with the KT7A who posted earlier...was it a tight fit?

I had mine on a 2A before I went back to Abit: you have to bend a small toroid out of the way, but she will fit

sorry being stupid, this is my first time building a computer. is it easy to bend a small toroid?
is it worth the trouble though, or should I just get one that fits better for the msi pro2a.

thanks

Hey, everyone who is unsure about buying the CGK hear this: I have one, on a K7Tpro2.(not "a" but they're the same thing) I hacksawed one corner off, it took me a while, but it fit ok after that, and it didn't that too much time, either. It's a good part, but for some reason I can't clock above 900Mhz(boots@950, but locks up in halflife)
This could be cuz of my voltage not going above 1.8v,that fact that I connected the bridges the wrong way and let the carbon touch, the fact that I spilt ink all over my motherboard, or because I just got a bad egg out of the factory. Its most liekly one of these and not the heatsink, because@900Mhz, I'ver never seen it go above 90something farenheit. Nice big heatsink, EXTREMELY quiet.(i.e. silent) Go for it.

Also have building w/ I7T-Pro2A w/ Taisol. Ground down corner (was afraid I'd break something if I started reefing on the coil), fit looks good. Then I started looking at adding a fan w/ larger heatsink to the chipset. OOPS! Anyone come up w/ a fan/heatsink combo that will fit w/ K7T-Pro2A and Taisol CGK742 cooler? Or do I have to drag out the Wizard tool and grinders again?

Is this fan better than the globalwin fop-32a? I have one and am running a 900 Tbird at 1072... but it runs kind of hot (48 when really stressed.. ripping a dvd) If there was some fan out there (besides the fop-38) that would help me to run either faster or cooler, I'd like to know. =)
