I've ordered from them a couple of times, last time they were a little slow in shipping but otherwise no problems.

I've placed 14 orders with Tavolo since their clearance sale started January 23rd. Tavolo was acquired by OurHouse ... they haven't said they're closing, but as items go out of stock they are not re-ordering them ... draw your own conclusions from that.

I've had mixed luck with my orders. Some have arrived with the most amazing packing - each and every item bubble-wrapped. And then there was the order that contained, among other items, 12 jars of Pasta Sauce ... they packed them in the bottom of the box, no bubble wrap, just paper, and in shipment five of the jars of sauce broke - glass and tomato sauce covered everything in the box. I was NOT happy, but I called them and they "adjusted" my bill. I've had good luck contacting them both by phone and email when I've been unhappy. Obviously, I'm mostly happy or I wouldn't keep going back! You should also be aware that Tavolo apparently has a one box per order packing rule. They attempt to put everything you order into one box. As a result, their packages tend to be extremely heavy (and for some reason seem to receive harsher treatment during shipping by UPS ... )

I will also tell you that Tavolo is not great about keeping their site up-to-date. When I place an order for multiple items one or more almost always end up out of stock. They will email you when they are preparing your order and tell you if something is out of stock. But if you ordered more than one of an item, the out-of-stock email may mean that they couldn't fill your entire quantity, not that you are not getting any of the item. You have to wait for your order to arrive to see if you will receive any. They appear to only have one out-of-stock email, and it doesn't indicate the quantity that was out of stock. It can be annoying for buyers (like me) who purchase things in groups of 6 or 12.

Normally it takes about five days before I receive notice of shipment, and I usually receive my package about a week later. Hope this helps! Happy Shopping!

Due to their "merger" with www.ourhouse.com they are moving their warehouse. That seems to be the main reason for the clearance sale. Of course, that doesn't mean they aren't going out of business, but the CSR I talked to, wasn't concerned. (How is that for a triple negative?)

FWIW, Everything that is reduced in price is not in the clearance section. They are continuing to add items every so often.

Thanks for the info. Here's a question. I placed a fairly
large order yesterday (a bunch of gifts for others, mostly).
Anyway, today I got an email from Tavolo saying one of the items
in my order was out of stock. No big deal, it was a bag of
dried fruit that I questioned getting in the first place.

My question: Can I expect to get my out-of-stock notices
in dribs and drabs, or if I got an out of stock notice and
only one item was on it, can I expect that the rest of the order
is in stock?

Since I've ordered from Tavolo a few times before. Let me try to chime in wiht the answer. You may get another out of stock notice, especially if you placed your order recently. However, probably by tomorrow or so, whatever you got should be yours.

BTW, to answer your earlier concerns about this company, I have nothing but good experience to speak of, when dealing with these guys, combined with the fact that their products are top notch I really hope they do stay in business which I think they will.

I'm afraid they come in drips and drabs. Each item that is out of stock
will have it's own individual email. I got some out-of-stock emails today, too ...

Well, this sucks.

I just got an email saying that the free ice cream maker they
were supposed to send me is out of stock and won't be reordered.
I purposely ordered > $100 worth of stuff to get the
ice cream maker, and now they say they're not sending it...

This is what you call bad customer relations...

Well, first they weren't going to make good on the "free"
ice cream maker. Now, after I raised a storm, they're offering
a 25% off coupon for ourhouse.com. I don't know if that's
worth much, but it's better than nothing (not as good as
the ice cream maker, but that's life)...Max value of 25% is
$50...

Oh well. The stuff they have on clearance is still a good deal...

ahh, too bad about the ice cream maker. at least you get free shipping since it's over 75 bucks.

some of those home things are not half bad... maybe pick something up for the folks back home. =)

Man...These guys have got to have the WORST shipping system I've
ever encountered...

On my first order from Tavolo, 3/8/01,
I ordered the same four items to go to three different addresses
(friends), plus a bunch of stuff to go to me (address number four).

Keep in mind that the stuff going to the friends was EXACTLY THE
SAME for each friend. One friend's order shipped last Thursday,
3/15/01. The next two friends' orders were shipped on Saturday,
3/17/01. And my stuff STILL hasn't shipped. The fact that the
exact same (relatively small and simple group) of stuff went
out on different days to different friends boggles the mind.
(And these were all in the Continental US, one to Washington
state, one to California, one to Maryland; the Washington order
went first).

My subsequent orders, several, on subsequent days, have not shipped
at all. All I've gotten is those mysterious "we are out of stock
on this item but we're not going to tell you if you're getting
partial fulfillment or none ha ha" emails. So I don't know if the
stuff I sent to (other) friends on subsequent days is gonna
look silly when it arrives. I can see it now "Oh thanks for sending
that $1.99 shaker of pepper. How thoughtful." They'll never know
about the jam selection or olive oils or whatever that Tavolo
didn't send... :-(
