tcp/ip networked printer with XP?

Trying to get a tcp/ip networked printer to work with Windows XP. I lease static IPs from ISP, 5 are assignable. If I assign the printer one of the leased static IPs 'borrowed' from a computer it was assigned to, I can print to it. I've tried to assign it a non-routable address but, can't seem to find the right range. How can I find which IPs to use?

192.168.x.x range is reserved for private use. There are two other ranges as well but I just had a brain fart and I can't seem to come up with them at the moment. Why do you lease IPs? Do you run some sort of a server farm that needs static IPs or something?

give the machines 2 ips give them their static ip and also assign them all an internal ip 192.168.0.x is one of the most common used. then simply assign the printer and ip on the 192.168.0.x subnet and all should be fine.

You lease 5 IPs? Why? You can just lease one, use that for the machine with the internet connection and then use NAT for your internal network. Use 192.168.0.xxx for the remaining hosts.
