I've been out of the loop for a while and for many years used Speedfan probably 100% of the time. Over the past several months I have built new machines for my own use and installed Speedfan as usual, but with each build I find the core temp reads about 5C lower than my CPU temp. This seems backwards. Shouldn't the core be hotter than the CPU?
I've tried downloading some user config files but most of the time they are just stock configs and no better than what I was able to do on my own.
Questions -
1. Is Speedfan still the preferred free temp monitoring tool?
2. Am I correct in my thinking that the core and CPU temps are backwards? I can rename them to anything I want but I would like to make sure I know what I am looking at.
3. Last and final question. When AMD rates the max temp are they referring to the core or CPU? I have looked but did not find anything conclusive.
Thanks!
