Temperature readings, whats PWM?

I see three temps, system, cpu and pwm. I'm guessing the system is the motherboard temp and cpu is of coarse the cpu. Is the pwm the power supply?

Seriously, where as you seeing this? In the BIOS, or some mobo-reading program like Motherboard Monitor?

Yes I see this in the bios. As well as in other programs like Hardware doctor that came with my mobo. Every bios or program out there reports three temperatures that I have seen. And I just checked Sandra and instead of system they have board which obviously is the motherboard temp and they have cpu temp as well. Instead of PWM they have Power/Aux temp, so I'm guessing this is the power supply temp? Can someone confirm this?

Could well be 'pulse width modulator' - a fancy technical name for the CPU voltage regulator - those transistors operate using the mainboard as a heatsink, and they can get very hot - thought they are typically rated for core temps of 175C, the surrounding components, especially the capacitors may not be.

i got it on my abit ic7 but i forgot the exact definition
