Terrible Newegg experience..

So I was on newegg and noticed a nice monitor and decided to buy it for around $100 USD. I proceded to buy it but then I got a pop up saying how I needed to enter in a ton of information about my card I payed with. I was uncomfortable with that so I didn't enter in anything.

Later on I found the same monitor for cheaper and bought it there (thinking that newegg didn't charge me because it said it was in verification status) so that order went through smoothly. I get an email later saying how newegg said the purchase got authorized (which was that pop up that you had to fill out) and it charged my card.

At this point I'm getting 2 monitors and one I didn't want. I contacted newegg and they couldn't do anything because they shipped it already, so I couldn't cancel it still. I then get an email from the seller saying to accept the package and printout a paper and put it on the box to send back to them. They said I will get a refund in 5-7 days when they get it.

WHY IS THERE NO BUTTON TO SIMPLY CANCEL AN ORDER ON NEWEGG

Newegg does have a cancel button. What's the time between you placing the order and "later on"? You should have canceled right away before or during verification, not hours later. That's not their fault. You shouldn't assume they didn't charge you if the order is being processed. You shouldn't place another order until you have confirmation the old order is canceled.

Almost every online retailer has a point of no return in the order process where you can't cancel because the order has already been processed and the warehouse is already packing the item, or the item has already been picked up for shipping. Almost always after that point you can only return the item.

You had to have clicked through the many screens to complete the purchase on Newegg so many chances were offered to change your mind. Of course they can't do anything after the item has shipped so once you get it return it immediately as in just as soon as the unwanted item arrives apply for an RMA and DO NOT OPEN THE BOX!

Strange how this is his first post her?

If you think Newegg is bad don't buy anything from Dell.
Dell's never given me any trouble. Bought a refurb for the secretary, and the psu(ssf) went up less than a month later. They said they didn't have one to send me, so I got a $35 credit. Bought a brand new psu on Amazon for $25. I got $10 for my trouble. I'm happy.

I've had issues with Dell when items I've ordered suddenly went out of stock before they could fill it. They would drag their feet until I finally just cancel the item and go elsewhere.

This is 100% your fault.

You didn't bother to check your Newegg order status until "later on" because you though the order might not have gone through.

For next time, the correct sequence of actions if you desire to buy elsewhere is:
1. Go to Newegg FIRST, to check your order status. None? Pending? Out for pickup? Shipped?
2. Try to cancel the order. If it says the process is too far along then chat with customer service.
3. Only then, as step 3, place the order elsewhere.

Live and learn.

I did that and it said they would take 24 hours to respond ( the third party that was selling it)

Whoa...you upgraded from the steno pad? She must have threatened to quit.

Ignore those assholes.

You do realize that "how come" is two words, right?

When I say "I", I mean the boss. I spend other people's money the same as I spend my own. The boss left to his own devices would piss money away. The refurb was my recommendation, and I took the failure personally. I'm happy with the outcome.

Why did she need a new machine? New Quickbooks doesn't support xp. If I had the time in the office to spend interrogating her, I'd have seen if something like gnucash would have worked. I suspect so, and I would have upgraded her machine to xubuntu and gnucash. But... I don't have time for all of that, and I'm not always there to give support when there's questions. The secretary really is the most impressive computer user in the office(barring me(low bar!)). She wouldn't have much problem picking up new things, but it's easier to stick with what she knows.

Shipped via UPS or Fedex? Either of those will allow you to refuse the package.

As for "terrible experience", this must have been your first purchase, this is far, far, FAR from a terrible experience. This is barely a blip.

How fast will I get a refund if I refuse it?

I would never even consider buying something on Newegg sold by a third party seller. Newegg is not Amazon. Hell, I usually avoid third party sellers on Amazon, too.
