Yeah I know....and that isn't even for an OEM one like the Tesla you linked to. If I want an OEM rim I gotta buy 4 of them plus the tire. Then I gotta buy the 3-ton jack and tools to take the rim off the hubHoly moly, over $500 shipped for a spare tire!!

No offence taken! At all! I just always find it weird how people always make it a positive thing about how something might accelerate but not care if it can decelerate in any way!

His video was really good. He went over a lot of things that the Hagerty video didn't. Marques focused more on the day to day aspect of the CT while Jason focused more on the engineering behind it. Both videos are really worth watching.4:30 in has an overview of the wheel system. Custom rims, custom Goodyear tires, 2-part plastic Aero hubcap kit that has little grippy teeth into the custom tires:

Yeah that's the hard part about the CT. What's it worth? I can spec out an R1T that is pretty close in price but the tech isn't on par and the story is the same with the Lighting. On the other hand those two trucks use a more traditional approach to what a truck is. Off roading capability, towing, and payload, ect.It really makes me wonder if their selling strategy changed. No cheap truck, no ultra-long-range truck. Pretty much the rollout didn't even mention stuff like the range extender.
I like that it's weird. I do like that there's a 470-mile option available. $96k is bonkers in my mind & for my budget lol. I feel like you should have a Ferrari or something for that kind of money haha!
Well, this has aged poorly.Definitely too late, being first to market with an EV truck + access to the supercharger network I 100% would have bought one.
Now I have a Rivian, the supercharger network is about to be accessible by all of the EV truck competition, and Elon has gone batshit crazy.
Cybertruck is the one EV reservation I haven’t yet canceled, but I have basically zero interest now.

Well guess what? You lucked out because the OEM part I linked to fits all 2015-2023 Mustangs regardless of what engine they come with. So now you don't have to look to shady aftermarket alternatives. You can sleep tight tonight knowing that Ford has got you covered.
But what do you really get with a 48v system? You can make the wires a gauge thinner, so a little bit of weight/cost, what else? Weight is why aircraft use 24v. But on a car that means every light and every electronic is going to be special for this truck.-That's the thing though, until someone pioneers it or it's use, it will never become a mass produced publicly sold product.
I can respect the engineering that went into the cyber truck while still thinking it looks like absolute dog shit though.
That might be the back tire steering, although that might be really bad too, swinging you ass out into more traffic.
Don't recall seeing the images of the crash tests here. Pretty damning that the body is so rigid that the rear axle would be deformed in a 35 mph collision, because of the lack of energy dissipating crumple zones up front. Imagine what that would do the a driver's insides.
Not just a Tesla problem, but lighting regulations really need to be updates in the US. Some cars brake lights are so bright they cause blind spots, and many cars you can barely tell the difference between tail lights and brake lights. Many EVs also don't turn on their brake lights for single foot driving.
Yeah, worst thing about my Bolt. But Toyota and others have been doing it for years on ICE cars.Agreed, if I want a OEM full size spare for my Mach-E it would cost about the same.......except that Ford doesn't even offer one. The Mach-E doesn't even come with a doughnut just a can of fix a flat and a tire inflator. If that doesn't work then I'm stuck calling for a tow.
It's always fun to poke at Tesla until you realize that legacy manufacturers are doing the same or less......
Yeah, you could copy the European wayNot just a Tesla problem, but lighting regulations really need to be updates in the US. Especially when you have to replace the tires more often..it seems like the novelty would wear off after you do it a few times & show it off to everyone you know.
They don't make or sell that kind of stuff here because most people don't buy trucks for utility purposes, they buy these large vehicles for vibes, social signaling, and because advertising works.Imagine that mini truck, but electric. I don't know why they can't make something like that here, it would be awesome and actually have more utility value than most newer trucks. The sides on those actually come down to make it a full flat bed which could be nice for larger loads. A lot of people import them, but that is a process and a half to go through.
They could still make the big trucks though, at least make the utility ones an option. Seems to me if I wanted a status symbol I'd rather get a nice sports car like a Corvette or something. They're roughly in same price range. They don't make or sell that kind of stuff here because most people don't buy trucks for utility purposes, they buy these large vehicles for vibes, social signaling, and because advertising works.
But that's just your personal preference. People have made big trucks a personality trait, and automakers are happy to keep obliging: these things are huge money makers for them. They could still make the big trucks though, at least make the utility ones an option.
