I see that morons replied 1st that they don't like kielbasa.

In any case, this will be fun to watch once people start utube videos. This is truly revolutionary and makes Tesla 15 years ahead of 'competition'

Soon, the steering wheel will be gone.

btw,

we have new propulsion - totally new electric motors. Rumored new battery. 1 or even 2 mega castings.
Next, Giga Berlin will start with batteries being a structural part of the body along with 2 mega castings.

520 miles of range.

Oh look, the Elon ball licker brigade is here. “Wahhh, someone doesn’t like something about a Tesla!”

LMAO at 15 years ahead of the competition.

At this point, I'd say that Tesla is really only 2 or 3 years ahead of the competition on electric cars. Cars like the Ford Mustang Mach E (cool car, terrible name) and Porsche Taycan show that they're catching up quickly.

Hell even GM has a system out now that’s better (and, more crucially, safer) than Autopilot, so they’re not far ahead on the software front either. The fanboys don’t understand that the real progress on this stuff and current state of the art is largely driven by academia, and industry as a whole is free to adopt, refine and perfect those published techniques. There is no Tesla autonomy secret sauce, they were simply the first to ignore blatant safety issues at multiple beta testers’ peril. I would expect many companies to have roughly comparable capabilities, certainly within a two to three year time window. I’ve been promised FSD for a long time now by people who aren’t familiar with current literature.

I would say that's a bit of hyperbole to say that Super Cruise is "better" than Autopilot, especially considering Super Cruise is only allowed on GM blessed roads that it's GPS and Camera Mapped. In my particular case that's all highway, my 40 mile commute would function exactly 0% on Super Cruise, so it would be a completely dead feature for me.

To GM's praise, they are transparent about whether or not their system will be of any use to you, as you can follow along their mapping progress here: https://supercruise-map-viewer.cp.gm.com/

Yeah, I know .. but that is the proper, safe first step, and GM is a conservative company who doesn’t want customers’ deaths on their hands. They are very clear on what it is and what it isn’t. I would expect them to loosen up when it is prudent to do so.

Well, I will agree that this is a more conservative approach than Tesla's, but again wouldn't cast GM in that light. They are just another company investing a lot of money into a particular solution, and of course, just like Tesla, is adamant that their way is the right way.

I had a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue until the very end of 2019, and in that time it faced 2 recalls. One for the Ignition Switch, and one for the under hood fires due to oil seepage from the gaskets. On the ignition switch, they had me bring the car in, at which point they took my 2 GM Keys, and snapped a plastic cover on them with a tiny keyring hole. The judgement was that with such a tiny keyring hole people wouldn't be able to put a bunch of things on the key as easily, and therefore the ignition switch was less likely to fail. Problem solved. For the Engine Oil seepage, their answer was to have me bring the car in, at which point they removed and disposed of the plastic cover over my engine. The determination being that oil would still seep, and fires could still start, but if they did the oil would only burn on the exhaust manifold, and not spread across the whole engine. Neither of those recall methodologies I would have considered to be a from a "conservative company who doesn't want customers' deaths on their hands."

All fair enough, and I’m really no fan of GM, just using them for the sake of the argument. If even shitty GM is more careful with its customers’ lives, then what does that say ...
