testing anti-virus programs

I was wondering if it was possible to download some of the more popular viruses? I have an extra computer, and I want to test out some anti virus programs on it. I want to test them using the real thing, but I can't find anywhere to download these viruses. Any ideas?

You could always use spyware. AV should pick it up. Then when you are done...you can clean the system. But if you really wanna use viruses....you are gonna have to dig very deep and look for underground sites the share viruses. These sites usually offer misc. hacktools. But good luck finding any sites, they move around frequently.
