Why in particular are you looking for a Tegra tablet?Should I buy TF700... or wait for the new tegra4 tablets to come out?
Hmmmm
Why in particular are you looking for a Tegra tablet?
I have a TF700, and its a decent tablet though the slow internal NAND and mono speaker really hold it back. Unless you score one for cheap, I'd wait for the next gen TF models.
It -- basically a blown up N4 -- is going to be out, what, a month before the next-gen TF?I'd look into the Sony Xperia Tablet Z when it's finally released.
More important is, IMO, the massive memory bandwidth boost from (up to) dual-channel LPDDR3.Plus Tegra 4 looks like it'll have the most powerful GPU out there . . . on paper.
Yes, but if you buy a non-Tegra device(whether phone or tablet) at anytime in the future, then TegraZone and THD games becomes a negative reason to own one.TegraZone and THD games without having to root or mess with Chainfire, etc are pretty solid reasons. The pendulum swings both ways.
On paper? Possibly. But at this point, Tegra 4 is vaporware.
I'll wait for an actual shipping product before speculating on it's performance.
At the rate nVidia is going...Who knows, maybe SnapDragon 800 would have shipped and taken the crown back before Tegra 4 ever gets launched.
AFAIK, currently only ZTE and SanDisk are officially listed as Tegra 4 Launch partners.True enough. Have to see what Asus launches for their next Transformer, they are learning with only a few things holding them back.
This year they have the fastest chip, not the slowest. And probably by a lot on the GPU side.Such BS... why July until Tegra4? I think the first T3 device was released last year in Feb?(TF200?).

If we all stopped buying this shit, it would GO AWAY. I will never buy or allow anybody who relies on my tech knowledge for purchasing to buy a Tegra device.
@s44: Under what criteria Xepria Z tablet a fail? Personally I wish it was 7~8" and cheaper (heard that it's going to be $500+) but other than that it's the most brilliant design I've ever seen on a tablet.
We can talk about Tegra 4 when it comes out. I have a feeling it's going to be a long while. And frankly I prefer Sony's QC over that of ASUS's.
Not that simple. Nvidia provides far more developer support than Qualcomm, Sammy provides zero, ARM provides zero, TI pulled out, etc. If you're a developer making a game and Nvidia is holding your hand, you'll make an enhanced THD version and a less-enhanced version for everyone else.
Also, the Nexus 7 uses Tegra 3, and thats still the reigning champ for the 7in tablet market. If someone wants a 7in tablet, there's only one option and thats the Nexus 7. Might change in May though, if the Nexus 7 2013 model sports an S4 Pro.
The nexus 7 is not the only option for a 7" tablet.
Didn't say it was, I said it was best option.

The Nexus 7 is also crippled by Google's insistence on scaling up the phone UI to larger screens.
The N7 is hardly crippled because you don't like the UI. But if having a similar UI to a Nexus phone bothers you, install one of the other launchers.
The launcher doesn't change that the system framework has two status bars when it should have one.
This causes no usability issues on the screen while allowing easy access to more information and controls than with just the bottom navigation bars. Its positive on a 7in screen. You can whine as much as you want, but show another 7in tablet at a 199 price point that even comes close to the N7.
On a 10in, I think it'd be a little cumbersome, but I don't have a stock 4.2 10in device so I can't really comment.
I don't know where people come up with this stuff. Samsung has been by far the best in updating its mid-high end phones from 2011 onward. The original S2 will probably end up with more current final firmware than the One X.Compare that to Samsung's release strategy which is to force you to buy a new phone for an upgraded OS.
