Send him over. I think there are some people that would like to say HI!!

SNC, I am also "Glade." I'm that (and glad, too), but my personal preference is "AirWick," both the "plug 'n' play" variety, and the spray. When I misbehaved as a young man my mom often told me, "You can be replaced with a small bottle of AirWick." The same is more than likely true today, but I'll give "Glade" a try.

I suspect that ERWIN and I are "of an age," and I'm also glade/glad he has joined the TeAm.

Major welcome to him, and thanks to his son.

Wow! You're either a heck of a salesman, have a really great father --- or both. I suspect it's both.

Warm welcome to your father from this newbie. Uh --- got any uncles?

And aunts for that matter! LOL@ Kokomo.

It's great to have all you new TeAm Mates. We WILL win this, Failure is not an option!!!

Kokomo & paf077

No, unfortunately no uncles/aunts that are into SETI.... Or computers by any means for that sake.

Well, my father started me on this computer thingy, I think maybe 10 years or more ago, when he
gave me his old PC (386-SX 16MHz, 4MB RAM, 30MB disk). HEY !!!.... It was a great PC in those days...
Shortly after i upgraded to 8MB RAM, which cost me about 500-600$ and every laughed, because "who would
ever need that amount of memory"

I then got tired of always having to call him in order to make DOS run those damn games/programs..... Conventional memory limit, sound drivers, modem, IRQ conflicts..... ARRRRGH :disgust:
From there it just went on and on and......

Then some years ago he persuaded me to join SETI, as we are both very interested in science, space, computers... Well, at that nerd stuff, you know......

Mech Eng - Interesting story. My dad has a computer, but absolutely refuses to allow an internet connection. He uses it strictly as a word processor, and to play Hoyle card games. Maybe we could get your dad and mine together?

LOL

Could be interesting.... He can be very persuasive !!!

Allthough he has not succeeded in persuading his new system administrator at work to
do SETI on their PC's (+200). "He has no fantasy at all" as he says it

200 machines could make quite a difference --- any chance we can bribe him?

Might be worth a try ... , but then again why try to bribe a man without any fantasy, he wouldn't know what to do with it...

We just moved right before Christmas to a new house. There is no braodband service offered where we live. Time Warner is currently getting the cable "infrastructure" installed out here (brand new subdivision) so hopefully I'll be back on RoadRunner soon. I knew we'd be without internet service for a while so I loaded each of my 3 pc's with wu's to give them something to do while we got settled in and found a dial-up connection. I've got about 500wu's waiting to dump right now. I know I'm listed as "inactive" on Smokeball's page, but I'm not! I just gotta get some internet access!

Hey Maggotry, great to hear from you.

If you start to run out, let me know and I'll mail you some WUs.

(Seriously, I will.) :Q

WU! WU! WU!

We will be passed in 13 days or less at current rates.....

We can....

Get new TeAmmates with lots of WU's

Get lots of new TeAmmates and they crunch like hell! :Q

Get more PC's crunching from existing TeAmmates and they crunch like hell! :Q

Get passed by BBR.....(not an option, don't you think?)?

2937 TeAmates x 1 extra WU's per day places us ahead of BBR in daily production....1 WU per day per TeAmmate!

[Sally Struthers]One WU a day....that's all it takes.......one WU a day can bring a smile to a child's.....er....Engineer's face[/Sally Struthers]

More....more...more! :Q

More in 04! :Q

Kokomo, this may not be the place to say it but I really like the little setup you have linked in your sig.

It took a little staring to figure out but that is some great thinking. Are those your crunching fleet?

It constantly changes, but that's essentially it. Dual Xeon (on floor) is the workhorse, and I'm upgrading the others to P4C 2.8s or better. Might add some fast AMD stuff for other projects when SETI goes bye, bye. New P4C 2.8 coming on line tomorrow or the next day for this project, replacing an AMD A7N266/XP2400 which is going to a friend. That'll add 6-8 WUs a day to my contribution.

The ugly guy in the pic is not me, btw, it's my evil twin.
