that reminds me of three US soldiers getting jumped and beaten in my city...i guess those idiots couldnt get close to the president...

i used to, and from time to time still do, make jokes regarding the police, but who doesn't? gotta make jokes about everything. but in all honesty, i still have the idea of serving as a police officer after military duty still an option if nothing works out. not that its my last ditch job, thats not it at all, just its one of the backups in mind if government duty at the pentagon (DoD) doesn't work out. which it should.

i give an 'i love you' to you to for what you do for our troops. there are so many people out there that dont seem to ever publicly support our troops that it seems as if no one does anymore. good to know there are kind citizens in our country.

I am proud and honored to do what i can. socks and underwear, magazine and books, gatorade and hot choc, bug spray or lip balm and ohhhh.. the endless baby wipes and hand sanitizer. sometimes i just send phone cards so they can call home to speak those they love. one package every three weeks like clockwork for over 3.5 years.

and the AdoptAPlatoon group also does group stuff, in addition to my assigned individual soldiers to support. they will ask for school supplies and crayons for the kids in iraq or afghanistan. or cookies and coffee for the soldier play room in korea. that is where one officer is in charge and collects for the locals or the soldiers or whatever.... it is the VERY least I can do. i pissed my entire youth away and by the time i realized what i great country i lived and wanted to serve, i was too old, too fat and too arthritic.

it is the VERY least i can do and i am humbled by the honor of being able to support our troops.

Agreed. I hate their commander in chief, but I have great respect for the people who are willing to risk their own lives every day that they serve.

Hey... if you get shipped somewhere, let me know and i will send you packages. i have belonged to AdoptAPlatoon for about 3.5 years. I get soldiers to write to and ship goodies to and do nice campaign collection drives for holiday gifts for our men and women.

The guys at my site do this too. We send packages of stuff to members who are stuck over there.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for people in our military. They deserve our support no matter what. These people defend us and don't deserve to have to deal with the political BS. :thumbsup:

I am an American and I value our way of life. I support those who fight for the preservation of my way of life, my family's safety, and our country's safety, as well as my freedom. Last time I checked, AnandTech was an American based company, which provides the use of it's forums to members free of charge. Alot of this community is made up of members from other countries as well as our own. It's nice to have international relationships, where I can learn about other's ways, and they can learn of ours.

What I cannot tolerate, is seeing people from other countries, and sometimes our own, come in here and bash Americans, and even malign some of our own American members on a free American forum, where you are given membership by our host, Anand. That is very rude and I sincerely wish that anyone with such an attitude is given a firm boot in the cyber-ass. :|
