I think it is funny and is less direct and has less politically charged attacks than the Daily Show. The Daily Show is all about coming up with the most clever attacks against Bush these days, or how to make someone who they don't agree with look bad. On top of it all, they leave out a ton of information so their usual audience believes what is not totally true.
I think Stephen Colbert is slowly becoming used to his role as a comedic newsman who is supposed to mirror Bill O'Reilly, or something like that. The little nuggets they throw out there during the show definately make it fun to watch. The negatives are the interviews which are downright pathetic. The recent interview with Gary Hart was terrible, in my opinion.
I think this is one of the better shows Comedy Central has put out lately.
