I noticed at a point in the movie a small break and then it continued. It doesn't tell on the box that it's a double layer, but do you know if it is or not???.

It is normal with a short break when there is a layer-change. It is less apparent with some players but it is still noticeable. Usually they try to hide the pause where the movie fades to black or something. I am pretty sure that Gladiator is dual layer as it is rather long and have quite a few bonuses. Dual layer discs have a more goldish look to them if you look at it. You can also see if it is Dual layer by the size of the content on the disc. If the disc is around 4 GB it is probably single layer and if it is larger it is Dual layer.

After wathcing it closely I managed to find that it changed layer at 1:13:xx the xx refers to some number I think it was 20 sec or so but not sure. Does that sound reasonable?.

I ask because I just got it with the mail today and wants to find out if its an error or not.

Of course its double layered. Most movies these days are.

Specially DTS tracks because of the amount of data they consume.

If the disc is gold then there are two layers, silver discs have a single layer. Of course, the gold colour doesn't alway mean that the movie is spread over both layers, meaning that there is a short 1 second break in the movie.

I'd say about every disc nowadays is dual layer. No it isn't a glitch, I noticed it as well. Darn layer change. However, it's better than having to flip the dvd over. Now that's a pain.

I never noticed it when I watched it the first time, it was while it was playing again while I was doing something else, and I noticed the pause in the sound.

I agree, it's better that than having to change discs.

It also depends on the DVD player (HArdware, not software) I had a Philips DVD player and when I was watching Gladiator the 1 sec break was very noticable. I returned it and got a Pioneer VS-333 and tha 1 sec break ins barely noticable. Not sure about computer DVDs though....
