Well as I am from WNY, I must concur. Sahlens are my preferred favorite, with Wardynski's a close second (Teds Hot Dog Stand uses Wardynski's).

I like hot dogs of all varieties. I am having a hard time picking one in particular. It has to have onions and mustard on it for sure.

Hebrew National and Nathans are both good.
If I have to buy ball park or any other common brand, I stick with the all beef varieties. I think they're much better than the one's made from random meat.

My hot dogs have to be browned. If the weather allows it, I throw them on the grill. If not, I cook them in a skillet. I add about a half inch of water to the pan. Once the water has evaporated, I throw in a little butter and cook them until they're browned.

I always have ketchup and mustard. It's the perfect combination and it's not the same without either one.

Hebrew Natty's are ok, but the fact that they're sold in 5 packs means I will never buy them. 5 tube steaks do not match well with 8 buns. WTF will I do with 3 leftover buns?!?

As a native of Illinois, I feel comfortable saying that Chicago dogs, like Chicago pizza, are not 'the shit', they're just shit. An effing salad does not belong on a dog and if you're so pretentious as to refuse to serve ketchup/catsup (like Superdawg) then you can just smell your own farts and bask in the smug b/c you're never getting a penny from me.

i was sorely disappointed when i walked into gray's papaya on 72nd and broadway. just not as good. but it was close to the museum.

the storebought still aren't as good as at the stands', must be the roach bits or rat droppings that are missing.

EDIT: I agree, I prefer papaya king to gray's, but gray's is significantly cheaper. When I worked on 37th and 10th ave and was scraping to get by, the gray's down the street was my cheap lunch savior. Just had to squeeze by all the junkies hanging out inf front of the methadone clinic next door.

We throw sausage in sometimes...hot dogs are ok, but they usually burst and turn to mush unless your throw em in while the crawfish are soaking. It's just funny because my sister and I were talking about people who throw hot dogs in their crawfish boil last week.
