So there is no SleepEnabler.kext on my HDD anywhere.
Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should remove that will fix my issue so that I can start without going into safe mode?

^ Everything I find on the 1545 is the same as the experience I had with the 1525. That is, 10.6.8 is a bitch on it, and 10.6.7 is about as far as it goes without pulling your hair out.
Most threads on the subject dead-end as above. When I find cases of people actually running 10.6.8 on any of these laptops, they always seem vague about it, admit that there are all sorts of non-working components in 10.6.8 (my experience as well) and disappear from threads before providing any sort of workable guide.
Anyway, I hope you figure it out, or just go back to an easier to install version of Snow Leopard.
