He should have gone through due process and if found guilty paid some form of reasonable restitution, done community service and been on probation for some relatively short period of time (e.g. 2 years). IMO he should not have had to do "hard time".

Yeah no, faking hate crime should be prosecuted just the same as committing hate crime.

Police department should be pissed as well.

My sympathy for the mayor and CPD is pretty minimal here. Rahm tried to suppress evidence of CPD wrongdoing (a long tradition of Chicago mayors) as a matter of course so to hear him and Johnson going nuts on this makes me pull out a violin you'd need a microscope to find.

That's not to say I agree with the decision Foxx made in the slightest.

The latest Jussie saga has almost all the elements a Trump supporter would love.

Commit a crime
Lie about it with outrageous accusation
When caught double down on lie
When law enforcement declines to prosecute triple down on the lie
Claim total vindication

You guys must almost be in heaven

No it should not. That type of mentality is part of our problem. The harm done when actually committing a hate crime is not as bad as faking a hate crime.

If you have been reading your thread, it should be pretty clear that many on the Left are upset about this as well. Do you care about the incident, or only Trump?

Really? How do you figure that?

The desire for harsh justice does nothing or at least very little in terms of helping people and society. You need punishment, but, nothing in terms of rehabilitation.

I'm surprised you don't agree.

I said and still say Jussie needs to do jail time.

My latest posts on this just point out the rights what should be obvious hypocrisy.

This incident is what makes them outraged about the privileged nature of the criminal justice system. Its like bitching about the justice when OJ was found not guilty. Where da fuck y'all been all these years.

That's why I shed no tear for the latest development.

"Got off too light" and "Got off entirely" are two very different things.

You do realize that he did not get off entirely, right? He was fined $10,000 and did some community service. The results of his crime were to waste a bunch of the Chicago PD's time and while that's certainly bad and deserving of punishment (if for no other reason than to deter others), it's not that big a deal. People are hyper-sensitive to racial issues and this is the reverse of when some liberals overreact to racial issues the other way.

OJ ruined my afternoon programing (local TV) for a whole year. That cannot be forgiven.

after all the work they put in to solving the case.

LMAO. All that work? His idiot story fell apart immediately. The CPD couldn't catch the hamburgler.

And they pissed off the mayor's office. In a very unusual move, the mayor and the police chief both went on TV and ripped into the DA's office. A DA's office at odds with both the mayor's office and the police department has serious problems.

It's weird that they're way more upset about this than they are about their officers shooting unarmed black people. Oh wait, no it's not.

They have endured all this damage, for what, to save the resources of prosecuting one case on what appears to be solid evidence?

Bullshit. What's the real reason?

DAs make deals all the time. It is pretty funny to see all the white supremacist rage though.

“This is a situation that has to damage your faith in the judicial system,"

LMAO, that must be the whitest sentence ever written.

He probably got more than $10k from his media appearances and concert performance while most of the media was going along with Jussie's version of the story.

This is a hall of fame post right here.

Yeah, I’m sure when a black person was lynched, at the funeral people would console the widow with kind words such as ‘at least he wasn’t pretending to get murdered. This would all be so much worse if your husband were still alive.’

Interesting that you bring up OJ and Jussie. Justice is more a function of wealth than race. If you can afford a good lawyer, you can literally get away with murder, independent of race.

Dragging a man behind your pickup truck until his head comes off is bad... but did you hear about the time a woman carved a 'B' into her cheek?
