People claiming Last of Us only 20 hours. Son, I am a bit disappoint. Was really hoping for a long, journey in a desolate world, and hoping I could ditch that Ellen Page sounding girl. =(

If you weren't so scared and self conscious of "kiddie" looking games you could try Ni No Kuni, I put about 60 hours into that. But even not grinding to god mode status is still 30-40 hours of solid play time.

A kid as a main character doesn't make it a "kiddie game". In fact the innocence and honesty in the main character is refreshing from the norm of billy bad ass spec op superhumans and emo teenagers. And I had 3-4 kids watching me play when I was showing my nephew and they were on the edge of their seat dead silent and almost to the point of tears. Seriously after certain scenes in the game, the room of 4 kids was DEAD SILENT, you could hear a pin drop on the other corner of the hours. Not sure you can call a game that dark and tragic a "kiddie" game. The first hour alone is pretty disturbing to most kids from what I've seen.

Yeah some parts are tedious or boring, some parts are even stupid, and there are plenty of flaws and issues, but the overall package and presentation is breathtaking and unforgettable. If you want a game that takes longer than 20 hours, there you go.

For a story driven game, that's fantastic. That's really about the limit I would ever normally expect, outside of an RPG...which are of course massive.

Also, I'm not sure who the "people" are who are claiming that, but 'speedrunners' always plow through a game before or right after release, then post how quickly they did it. I always find that silly. A game like this is about patience and taking your time, like the great survival horror games of old.

I could not actually be more pleased with that news.

It is not speedrunnings. Just people who got the game early and have beaten it. Maybe I didn't follow the game close enough, but I was hoping for a desolate world with places to explore. I just hope it isn't on rails. As much as I love the setting, it would be a shame to limit it to very few exploration places. Sounds like it is similar to Metro 2033 from what is coming out. Linear, but story driven.

Some of the guys covering the e3 stuff were talking about it and claimed it to be a little over 20 hours.

20 hours is pretty excellent for a non RPG. considering FPS games have a 4-6 hour story mode and most everything else is under 10

Yeah, 16-20 hours is a solid game experience for me, escpecially with two kids. That could take me a couple weeks to finish if not more. I will be picking this game up on saturday. I can't wait!

I don't look at this game as an FPS though. It should be more like an action RPG similar to the 3d Zeldas. You have a world to explore and a goal to achieve. How that gets done is entirely up to you.

And I am not saying 20 hours is bad, because it surely is better than 10, which is better than 5 in almost all cases. I just wish it was more. Coming in at 20 hours leads me to believe this is more involved Metro 2033 type of game, which took me 7 hours to beat on hard.

ok i will probably be purchasing this now instead of renting it if it's really around 20 hours or so to complete. gonna do some more research though to see if that's true, like if you just play through at a normal pace that it's really 20 hours.

I'm hearing it's 18ish hours if you are exploring everything. Not sure what that means if you try to rush through it.

I agree, although my problem seems to stem from not having a ton of time. I like to play more than one game too, so I try to get games that I can actually get through a story. How some of my friends can only play COD and a basketball game year round is beyond me.

I just finished Xenoblade Cronicles and Honestly I had to force myself to finish it. Once I did quests I was over leveled so I could blast through all the monsters out in the world. Then item hunting got really old. I was at aroynd 65hours when I decided I'll just rush through to the end.

I have the time, but artificially increasing the play time by making item drops super rare and making it very hard to find the quest giver you need to return to is highly annoying. A Game like GTA that rewards exploration and doesn't have quest fillers though is a bit easier for me to sink time into.

I hope this shows up on the Gaikai system. I kinda dont want to buy any more PS3 games. Hopefully it might even look a little better on PS4.
