I'd like to see you take 2-3x your body weight from the ground to over your head. And swimming is a real sport too, not that I know a damn thing about it. I don't have a problem with less exciting to watch sports being included but there are some stupid events that are included in the Olympics. Who watches an hour of speed walking?!

Also, why did baseball get removed while basketball stayed in? Baseball is a much more global sport.

Only a handful of countries were taking any real interest in baseball (2008 had 8 teams), and of those the biggest countries (i.e. us) were refusing to send their best players.

Without the American major league players Olympic baseball was doomed.

They do that in Hockey for the winter olympics but they shut down the NHL for a bit. Controversial, not sure how long it will last. It really should be for amateurs.

I don't know if you're defending race-walking but seriously it's one of the dumbest "sports" I've ever heard of. Why don't they make a sport out of having 1 person hold another like a wheelbarrow and race to a finish line. Teamwork right? Let's do a high jump from their knees. Let's do a standing long jump only using ankles and without bending the knees. Where does this comedy end? Outright stupidity regardless of how much "skill" it takes.

1. basketball has 1000x the international interest that baseball does.
2. baseball requires the construction of at least 1 dedicated stadium which will never be used for baseball after the olympics
